Years back, and I can't remember the team, there was an attempt to bring in minorities to interview, and the minorities kept refusing, which led to a situation where the team looking for a HC could have been screwed even though it was actively seeking to bring in minority candidates for interviews. Now, that happened because those minorities thought the the interview would just be window dressing, but it wasn't because of racism. It was because the team already had its mind made up about who should be the next coach.

That was the Lions in 03 i think when they hired Mariucci. They got fined $200,000.

What Belichick did was stupid, but IMHO he didn't do anything wrong. He's got some egg on his face, no doubt, but he doesn't exactly control what the Giants do. And there has been no shortage of diversity on his staff through the years.

Is it true that the Giants already had interviewed two black candidates? If so, they do not owe Flores an interview based on the Rooney Rule. They found their coach and hired him.

If it's not true, the Giants should be punished like the Patriots were for breaking a stupid rule. Not holding my breath on the NFL being consistent though.

One of the interviews needs to be in person. The others might have been remote interviews.
