Brady has $15M due on Feb 4th, there are also cap considerations for the Bucs on when he retires or when he is released. The timing and how he retired was screwed up by ESPN. It is their job doesn’t cut it they screwed around with the retirement of the best player in the 100 yr history of the sport. We will never know what Brady, the Bucs and the Patriots planned to do and how it was supposed to go down.
IMO this announcement would have been coordinated between all parties.

It is odd and not typical. Things ended poorly for Brady here. He thanked everyone 2 years ago and didn't feel the need to do it again. He felt his thanks right now was owed to Tampa. Hard to argue with that. If people want to be butt hurt than that is their issue. The guy helped win us 6 titles so that is where it is at for me.

Because I was curious I looked up the Colts home crowd reaction to Manning’s first game back in Indy as a Bronco which like Brady’s was two years later. Not only did Manning get a dedicated standing ovation from the crowd BUT the crowd also cheered for him when he first got under center. No boos. See for yourself.
