Tom Brady Retires (Update: Shouts out to Pats players, coaches on social media)

This is why Brady didn't include them.

Guys, Peyton didn't bother retiring as a Colt. Why? They CUT him and gave up on him after everything he did.

Pats didn't cut Brady, but they clearly gave up on him and did some things to push him out.
But that would not be accurate.

Tom was very clear with how he felt in 2017 and 2018 here. He was craving for a change.

To say 100% of the reasons for his departure here were all on the NEP is not a true statement

a screenshot of Kraft's statement with some subtitles pasted over?

I actually don't really care that he left the Pats/Pats fans out in because his statement comes off as still in the moment and maybe rushed because of Schefter & BSPN so there is obviously gonna be recency bias and i'm one of the few that took the stance that Brady won't care about the Pats even in retirement while Bill is still there but if you are gonna include Michigan & that Snake Oil Salesman in your retirement announcement idk maybe you could probably add a sentence or 2 about the team you were with for 20 years and went to 9 SBs with. I get that he posted a message 2 years ago but that was a "moving on" which is a different beast than you finally calling it a career

Oh my god Belichick might literally die of heartbreak

Translation - Tom Brady is retiring but LOOK AT MEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Guys… Tom Brady made me a better project manager. He made me a better leader of people. He made me a better man. I’m going to use this opportunity to talk about MEEEEEEEEE.

I hope that's not the case. Belichick learned from Bill Walsh that it's best to let a player go earlier rather than later. For whatever reason, Tom took it personally. Belichick was always about the team and not any one individual. Brady 2019 stats suggested he wouldn't have done much better here in NE in 2020 or 2021.
"For whatever reason, Tom took it personally"

Wtf? Of course he did. He just won a ring the year before that, and they're ready to kick him out?

He lived in New Engalnd with his family, and probably wanted to retire there. Of course he'd take it personally that after 6 rings and countless game-winning drives, they would toss him aside.

Not to mention... Joe Montana took the Chiefs to the playoffs. So the 49ers didn't need to get rid of him. Steve Young only got 1 ring out of his 9 seasons starting for them.

We overreacting. I'm sure there's something coming up...we shall see

If I was Robert Kraft, Bill Belichick would have gotten his waking papers the day after he sabotaged his team’s chance to win SB 52. Judgement that bad is not an isolated lapse.

What have we seen since. He drafted N’Keal Harry and keeps playing him despite Harry not being good enough to play in the NFL. I’m no personnel expert, but 5 minutes of video told me Jakobi Meyers was a better player.

He put his own son an impossible situation to ever succeed promoting him over longer tenured defensive assistants and made him a lightening rod for blame and ridicule.

Age acts like alcohol. It exaggerates our bad personality traits. Look at Bob Kraft. Do you think 60 year old Bob Kraft widower or not would have been caught dead in a place like Orchids of Asia?
I don't agree with anything you've said so moving on.

Without Belichick the Patriots don't win SB 53.

The crying from the same people who have been openly rooting for him to fail for two years…TOM, WHATABOOOOUT ME???
Exactly

Never forget: people ON THIS WEBSITE WERE WONDERING IF WE SHOULD HAVE SACRIFICED THE 2018 SUPER BOWL TO KEEP GAROPOLLO LMAO!!

sorry for the all caps, but it has to be said.

Sounds like an NFL retirement statement:

""This is difficult for me to write, but here it goes: I am not going to make that competitive commitment anymore. I have loved my NFL career, and now it is time to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention. I've done a lot of reflecting the past week and have asked myself difficult questions. And I am so proud of what we have achieved. My teammates, coaches, fellow competitors, and fans deserve 100% of me, but right now, it's best I leave the field of play to the next generation of dedicated and committed athletes."
Yes, because somehow specifically retiring from the Bucs would mean that he, by some mysterious alchemy, will go on actively loving his career and remaining on the field of play.

Weird how the last time Bon Jovi put out any decent music was approx 10-20 years before Brady became a pro

Might not happen to June. The Bucs can cut him with a June 2 designation, but that doesn't mean they will. They cannot take the cap hit unless he is given a June 2 designation. Without that designation, it adds $12 million to their cap.

Each team only can do that with two players. Not sure who else might need to be cut by the Bucs this year with that designation if any. If they have two players they want to cut and give them a shot of getting a good deal elsewhere in free agency and need the June 2 designation to do so, they may be forced to make Brady wait until June 2nd to get cut to sign a one day deal with the Pats to retire.

What an incredible career….I don’t think we will ever see a better one…in any sport.

And I am annoyed by the speculation as to why Brady left. IMO, there weren’t any hard feelings…it was just personnel issues…same reason he is retiring from the Bucs right now, IMO. He even said so himself….that he loved to compete…

The Patriots were not going to win a Super Bowl in 2020…..2021? Probably not…even with our FA spree…Brady‘s contract probably means we did not get one extra player in FA like Judon….

In fact, I think his phone may ring during the 2022 season…..

Wow, so it looks like Brady is f u c k i n g the fanbase that stuck with him through all the investigations, court cases, etc. It's pretty f ing sad to see all the fanboys in this thread - "he thanked us already!". it was 31 fanbases vs 1 and Brady choses to ignore us. Thanks Tom, you only certified what I always thought about you.
I was saying Brady QUIT on the team and THE FANS in 2019 - standing there after beating 13-9, largely because you played like f - ing s h i t....pouting at the podium even though your team won, you chose to bring everyone down with your sad tom act. We get it - you loathe us. We're the working guys who go out every day and dig trenches, build buildings, pave roads....maybe you liked us the first 5 or 6 years of your career, but you got a taste of the elite life and you despise your NE fans. He sells a pre workout with no stimulants for $45, whey isolate for $44 - both of these items can be found for half the price at Walmart. Brady probably thinks there's too many working class day laborers in the NE Pats fandom to stoop so low to thank us again.
The players don't care about us one iota, Kraft doesn't care about us and neither does Coach Bill, and the faster people realize this, the better. So all the threadbans for criticizing Brady and Belichick...why? Because you or the mods feelings are hurt because someone dared to criticize the coach or the player that you worship?
I really hope Brady takes the time to genuinely acknowledge and thank his NE fans, Belichick, and Krafty Bob upon his NFL retirement. I have to think he will. But if he doesn't we can have the memories and that's it - we are below Tom Brady. If he does thank the fans, the comments herein are moot, but I sincerely hope Brady shows he's classy and thankful to his supporters.

The last half decent thing he had was in 2000’s. “It’s My Life” was the last major mainstream Bon Jovi song. Maybe maybe maybe you could argue “Have A Nice Day”. But his core stuff was long before Brady

…. This isn’t your group therapy in case you were wondering

Why does Brady owe the fans a damn thing? What sort of narcissistic garbage is this? The fans didn’t do a ****ing thing for him aside from overeat, drink in excess, and shout at the stadium. He only owes his coaches and himself for his career.

This was 2 years ago and more than good enough for me. Don't see the need for him to repeat himself now.
It's not good enough for me. I'm flushing all of my TB12 supplements down the toilet, and now I'll send all of my anti aging supplements cash to Dr David Sinclair who, while a hack with questionable ethics, at least graduated from Harvard.
