Who will be the new OC?

His offenses were 6th, 3rd and 1st in the only 3 years as OC. He’s a very good replacement for McDaniels.
You can have him. They were passing offenses that couldn’t grind it out and keep qbs like manning off the field, and weren’t reliable in picking up a couple of yards when needed.

Troy Brown is an option maybe. Currently the WRs coach.
Not that I actually realistically think my favorite Patriot who played-in-all-3-phases-of-the-pro-game will take over OC then HC leading the Pats to another Dynasty, but it's the far fetched dream.

I’m guessing Darrell Bevell will be the next OC. Most recently, he was the interim HC of the Jaguars after starting the season as OC under Bill’s buddy Urban Meyer. Before that, he was Matt Patricia’s OC with the Lions. He was also the coach who as OC of the Seahawks gave Patricia his greatest accomplishment when he masterfully put Malcolm Butler in place to intercept Russell Wilson’s pass to win SB 49.

The more I think about this after McDaniels departure. The more obvious it is that McDaniels left after being supplanted as Bill’s crown prince by Patricia. You know the guy whose signature was on the contracts signed by Patriots free agents last off-season. The guy Bill brought over multiple members of his Detroit coaching even though he was only hired as an “advisor “.

Who better to in trust the future of Mac Jones then the guy who guided Trevor Lawrence’s rookie year. I’m all onboard.

Last off-season there was a rumor originating from someone at 98.5 that the Krafts and Belichick had agreed on a retirement plan where the coaching duties would fall to Patricia with Bill’s retirement. That detail made me disbelieve it at the time. It appears now that it might be true.

Petrified that they be seen as running off Bill, the Krafts allowed Belichick to choose his successor. I hope it all works out. After all, Bill, Bob and Matt are smarter than everyone else; just ask them.

Barring a last second McDaniel change of mind special, it looks like he’ll be the new Raiders HC.

So who do we think will be the Pats next OC?

Do you think Bill O’Brien gets a look? He knows how to use a 2 TE set.

Feel free to merge if there’s another thread on this.
Brian Belichick will become the OC and Steve Belichick the DC. BB's master plan comes to fruition next year!

Joe Brady could be an interesting one. Would bring more empty sets and more motion than we previously have had. We could also go back and get chad O’Shea or we will go after BOB and he could hopefully get more out of our 12 personal grouping.

Personally I’d love to see Joe Brady as I think it could be good for mac development. Also think Stevenson would be a bigger threat in that sort of scheme too.

Brian Belichick is wicked smart, or so I’ve heard. He may have inherited his father’s football mind.

BOB might be gaining steam... Mac & he worked together some at Alabama (and the obv BB connection).

Methinks perhaps that you listen to too much sportstalk radio, and would guess the Bertram and Felger are your 2 favorite radio "personalities". Bertram and Felger make their best efforts to "gin up" controversy whenever they can, many listeners like that.

FYI Bill is smarter than most as is Patricia.. we are lucky to have them. Mr. Kraft is no slouch either...

To illustrate the "intelligence" or lack thereof of sportstalk radio, last week Bertram was pontificating about how Gisele did not like Boston or Tampa as she would prefer Miami and NYC for the "glitz" factor.. he went on and on about what Gisele was probably thinking(???). What is becoming the norm, rather than the exception I went immediately to Pandora..

Darrell Bevell is an interesting name and he might want the job.

If Matt Patricia gets the HC job, I may consider becoming a Jets’ fan. OTOH, I think I’d rather be an incel than a Jets’ fan. Oh wait . . . same thing.

Troy needs more time.
So does Mayo, believe it or not.
If I had to choose between Mayo at DC or Troy at OC, it is Troy all day long.
Played for Parcells, Carroll, and BB.
Played on all sides of the ball. Fought to make the team practically every year. Mayo made the team on Draft Day, played one position for one coach and been an assistant for that same coach for a few years.

Ben Maller thinks BOB.

Sounds about right that BB will go with a trusted and vetted associate.

BOB seems so obvious it probably won't happen. Just don't see the Pats going for one of the younger breed of OC. It will be BOB or Nike Belichick.

I think your point is valid but if you're coming to New England, O'Brien or not, you better be ready for some tough coaching.

"Getting loud and in your face" due to a lack of influencing skills is not the equivalent of tough coaching. It is a mirage that experienced, confident veteran players resent.

Didn't like BOB when he was here before, from what i remember he was predictably pass happy. He would abandon the run, there wasn't any down or distance he didn't have brady passing.
That was one of the issues us Alabama fans with him. We would be on the 5 yard, 1st and goal and he would call 3 pass plays when we had 2 really good running backs. Then in the National Championship Game with minutes left on the clock, down by 8, no time outs, he calls 2 running plays right up the middle!
Most Bama fans wouldn't mind seeing him go at all! Many people have said he just has "too much NFL" in him to coach in college. Yes, our QB won the Heisman, but there were games that were close that really didn't need to be close and some of them were due to his stupid play calling.
Part of me, Alabama fan that would love him to go, then part of me that would hate for him to go to the Patriots and mess with Mac. But who knows, maybe he would be good for the Patriots?

Where is DKF?? He's the reason why I come to this place these days.

Rumors are he’s banned? Crappy timing all things considered.

It’s amazing that as a fan of a team that has had the greatest run in the history of the sport you have such disdain toward the people who delivered that to you.
Why?
