Speculation: McDaniels to the Raiders nearly done. [Confirmed DONE1/31/22]

Yeah, O'Brien isn't perfect by any stretch, but there really isn't a perfect OC out there (and the closest ones are in the running for HC jobs). My preference would be to have McDaniels back for one more year, give Mac a good two-year base, then whoever the next OC is works WITH him to evolve the offense, rather than continuing to teach it to him. But Josh is probably overdue for chance #2, so O'Brien is the next best thing.

I wouldn't mind someone like Chad O'Shea coming back and trying him in the role either though as an alternative. I think he's the WR coach and passing coordinator for the Cleveland Browns, but has a history with us and could be ready for that next step.
Mike Grundy at Oklahoma State has had a lot of offensive success and OCs leave for HC jobs.
His process for finding a new OC is to look at the best, most productive offenses in the lower divisions 1AA, D2,D3 and choose from them but hire them to run HIS offense. They come in and are taught the offense and expected to run that offense.
This type of approach ( replacing lower division OC with young bright offensive mind who has coached in a system that has had a lot of success) sounds like it would be a good approach for us.

Maybe the plan in Las Vegas under McDaniels and Ziegler would be to go after Rodgers, Watson, or Wilson. Carr is going into the last year of his deal. So they are not married to him.

Rodgers coordinator just got the Denver job, and Rodgers loves him, my money is on him going to Denver. And even if he didn’t go there both Hebert snd Mahomes are going to be big roadblocks for the Raiders to overcome.

My views on O’Brien coming back are well known, so I’ll leave that at that.

Big mistake by MacDaniels if he makes this move. His second chance at being a HC will likely be his last chance, and he is going to a division that already has Mahomes and Hebert, and a strong chance Denver could add Rodgers. The Raiders are not going to get over the Chiefs anytime soon, and if he lasts 3 seasons it will be a miracle, at which point his head coach career will be over. Belichick understood this years ago, and he took the Patriots job because it was the best situation for him to succeed, MacDaniels is putting himself in a really bad position.
He isn’t going to get fired because the Chiefs are good.
If you can’t compete with the mediocre Chargers you aren’t going to win anywhere (the raiders just beat them in week 18 with the playoffs on the line) and not taking a job because a bad team that fired their coach might try to trade for an old QB is ridiculous.
The job where they give you the best team and everything is easy doesn’t exist.

No question Herbert has scary potential, but I will point out that the Raiders beat them (in the game and for a playoff spot) in a season where they had every excuse to pack it in and collapse after the Gruden and Ruggs fiascos. Maybe it says more about the Chargers, but in that case LA (and Herbert) still have a lot to prove themselves before I would advise McDaniels to avoid them.

I just think that the one lesson MacDaniels should have learned from Belichick is that you pick your second chance very carefully, as it can very well be your last chance, and going to that division right now is a mistake, similar to the mistakes made by those coaches who decided to come and try to take down Belichick snd Brady.

He got banned. You can tell because you can’t search for him.
Why? I know he was over the top against McDaniels but I never noticed him getting personal with other posters but then again I am not on all the threads either.

Reports are Belichick is supporting Mcdaniels going to the Raiders.
From what I understand this is a done deal and Adam Gase is going to be Mcdaniels OC.

So in one off season we could potentially lose our FO executive, offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator if Mayo does get an offer. I know in 2005 we lost both Weiss and Crennell but I don't remember if we lost any front office executives too. Seems strange to lose so many guys when we are not even coming off a championship. I suppose maybe it was just time for McDaniels and maybe Mayo too.

No matter who the new OC for Patriots is, Mac Jones MUST get help to improve to the next level as a QB. Tom House or Tony Romo should be available to help fine-tune his endurance, strength, mechanics...

He already has the QB IQ which is a plus.

I do think he crossed a few lines once in a while in regards to other posters, but I'm just speculating (no idea IF he's actually been banned, nevermind what was the banning offense in the end).

Leftwich is the only one your Bucs are losing.

Belichick always supports his coaches when they want to take new positions, Kraft and Brady were the ones who convinced MacDaniels to not take the Indy job.

MacDaniels is a fool if he hires Gase.

Ask yourself two questions. How long will K.C. Dominate the AFCW? How many years will Davis give MacDaniels to win the West? IMO the Chiefs will dominate the West for the next 4-5 years, and Davis won’t give MacDaniels more than 3 years.

I hear Ben Rawitz is available :haha:

If McDaniels is making the playoffs at 11-6, 12-5 and the chiefs are winning the division at 13-4, 14-3, McDaniejs isn’t getting fired.
Thr Chiefs window is closing. Aside from the Patriots and Brady how many trans win their division 6-8 straight years?

Gase is not a good OC, but if he is a guy who McDaniels feels will be in the same page as him and carry out what he wants then it’s a good move.
There is a world of difference between being the brains of the outfit and the guy who carries out a plan.
This is why so many “carry out the plan” OCs get HC jobs and fail, but are fine as OC under an offensive HC

Please go to Vegas and take Steve with you. That would be amazing. Bring BOB back as OC

Bill the GM likes to hire nobody's from within so I'm guessing it'll be the WR coach Mike Lombardi's kid, Lombardi carries Bill's water in the media btw ...or the TE coach, whoever they F that is. maybe he hires his daughter to complete the nepotism....
But I seriously want Charlie Weis back

My speculation is that other posters complained about him and he probably received prior warnings from the mods.

Maybe the mods will see this and fill us in.
