Everlong...you DO realize that Young won THREE Super bowls, don't you? I'd say that's quite a bit better than Aaron Gameshow. You made an earlier post equivocating Young with Rodgers.I cannot disagree more with this thought

Young was the starter on one of those teams. That's like giving JG a couple of titles. I love how on NFLN they introduce David Carr as a SB champion. Sure he has the ring but didn't play a snap. Anyway, regardless, if all of you want to put him below Young, AWESOME! I'm not going to fight you.

He’s MR REGULAR SEASON
What’s the over/under on A-Aron threatening to retire this offseason unless the Packers (or whoever he signs with) pay his contract in Dogecoin?

Rodgers meltdown is going to be Dennis Reynolds levels of entertaining.
Another loser proposition. The pyramid scheme that's crypto has been tanking big time recently.

I love Messi but soccer is not clear cut. Maradona for me is still supreme. I like Messi's temperament more than Christian Ronaldo but I have grudging respect for the crying baby from Portugal.

Hockey is a lot tougher since yes, Gretzky seems to dominate, but you can't tell me Lemieux isn't right there with him.
I agree soccer is not clear cut. A lot of people would argue Zidane is up there as well. It depends which player you preferred honestly. Majority of my adult life has been Messi

Regarding Steve Young...

He ran into juggernaut’s of the early 90’s Cowboys and then the short lived Packers teams. Had Jerry Rice not been injured and Garrison Hearst were available, they would’ve had a better shot in 1997. They beat down the Broncos earlier in the year and probably would’ve done it again.
also, he played at Tampa Bay, the worst franchise in the league, at the start of his career and then SAT behind Joe Montana until he got his shot. He won THREE Super Bowls and had arguably the GREATEST Super Bowl performance as a QB in NFL history. Now I understand that KC fan is a total nitwit when it comes to NFL history but I'm surprised members here would class Young with Rodgers....NOTHING could be farther from the truth.

How crazy that Jimmy keeps finding his way to now 2 NFCCG’s and one Super Bowl appearance in the last 3 years?

It’s amazing how unlike any of the other major sports there is ZERO legitimate argument over who is the GOAT. It’s Brady and then a race for 2nd place.

In MLB it’s a total crap shoot. What are we gonna judge this by, career WAR? I guess Babe Ruth is an easy choice because he has the wins and stats and obviously was the most dominant player of his era but is that more of a reflection on the era? I mean it was the damn 1920s. Ted Williams might be the best pure hitter ever but he never won crap. Mike Trout? Ahahahahah. And then you have pitchers in their own category.
And you didn’t even mention Mickey Mantle or Willie Mays who are certainly more deserving than Mike Trout and probably more than Ted. And where do pitchers factor into this? And there’s the steroids cloud too; Barry Bonds was having an inner-circle HOF career before he started juicing, the story is he got pissed at the attention McGwire and Sosa were getting and wanted to show what a real talented player could actually do…. Really fascinating stuff from my perspective (baseball’s my first love and although the modern MLB game is atrocious and will die if the course doesn’t change soon, I still love the game in general).

Like Doug Flutie, all Jimmy G does is win, yet everyone keeps trying to replace him…..
He does have a lot plays he gets away with that make you go:
Tired Fed Up GIF

The difference between Young and Rodgers is that Young only lost to historic powerhouse teams and beat one. Rodgers has a lot of playoff failures against inferior teams including last nights gem. His road to his first Super Bowl was a joke.

Honestly I can't rate the guys from 45-60 years ago. I know it's ignorant of me. But I just can't. I've tried.

The list would look like this then. If you have Starr on your list, Unitas should be as well. Also, as a Chiefs fan, you should know Len Dawson, but I’lll leave him off.

Rodgers would be somewhere in the 9-11 range. If you take out Starr and Unitas and categorize them as pre-merger, 7-9 range…which lines up with the consensus rankings for him. But just a comment in general: people say all-time, but they don’t really mean all-time. Going post-merger, we eliminate 40% of the league’s history, with many of these QBs being huge influences on the position.

Gonna be interesting to watch GB blow it up.

They're just too top heavy salary cap wise to try to keep the band together, IMO.

And now it's an ideal time to move on, you can see this set of players can't get it done.

Welcome to the Jordan Love Era!

You'd take Brees over Favre? Wow. What led to that decision?

WHAT????????????????? Young didn't contribute in those two previous Super Bowl winning years?Gee whiz, I must have been watching a different NFL. I'll only say this...Steve Young threw SIX...6...touchdowns in Super Bowl XXIX....breaking Joe Montana's record of five TD's in a Bowl

On the strength of a six-touchdown performance that surpassed the previous Super Bowl record of five, owned by the man Young replaced, Joe Montana, Steve Young was named the MVP of Super Bowl XXIX, as the 49ers defeated the San Diego Chargers, 49–26. Young also threw for 325 yards and rushed for 49 yards, making him the first player ever to finish a Super Bowl as the game's leader in both rushing and passing yards.

The victory capped off an incredible year for Young, who had one of the best seasons by a quarterback in NFL history. He threw for 3,969 yards, a then-franchise record 35 touchdown passes with only 10 interceptions, completed 70.3 percent of his passes – the highest completion percentage of the 1990s, third all-time, and at the time, the best completion percentage by any quarterback with more than 400 attempts (later eclipsed by Drew Brees in 2009). Additionally, Young broke Joe Montana's single-season mark with a then-record 112.8 passer rating, and also once again demonstrated his great scrambling ability, accumulating another 289 yards and 7 touchdowns on the ground. For his record-breaking season performances, Young was awarded his second AP NFL MVP award, becoming the 7th player in NFL history to win both league and Super Bowl MVP honors in the same season.

Compare THAT with Rodgers 3 td performance in HIS only Super Bowl win and there is no way on this earth anyone can make the argument that Rodgers ranks AHEAD of Young.

Messi is my favorite player as well.

I’d put Rodgers and Brees below Warner, Favre and Aikman.

Warner was badass during his time going to 3 Super Bowls, winning one and almost won two with a terrible Cardinals team.

Brees and Favre are similar in having a lot of playoff failures against inferior teams.

Aikman had an all time great ground game but a sniper when it mattered.

This was the final play on GB's last drive where Rogers threw a long pass into coverage. Watch the wide open receiver at midfield.

Zapruder films now?? WTF?

I'm glad he lost, I cannot STAND Divas.
Getting to be a regular thing with him, must be why he's one of the best ever....
