June Jones (former NFL head coach) had Mac Jones ranked over Trevor Lawrence

Probably. Was just hoping for a bit more camaraderie given we all have Pats fandom in common. It seems like we are missing a common enemy, like underdog on the old boston.com forums, for example. Or maybe those forums were worse than I remember. I expect disagreements. It would be really boring if all, or even most of us, agreed on everything. It just seems like there is a significant group of people here who come here just to attack people without any provocation, pick fights and argue, often over the silliest things.
I don't have anyone in real life to talk Pats, Celtics, Sox or Bruins with. So it would be nice to go have a place like this. But the energy here isn't great. It feels like most every other forum on the internet. That's on me though for being silly enough to think that it wouldn't be.
Not sure what tell you. I've been on this board a long time. Got some great people here and your share of a-holes. I find it's all about how you interact with people- like any board.

Kinda like showing up at the bar after work. You have your core group you hang with, the collection you tolerate and the few you just want to throttle every now and then

I think even if you were to put Brady on the Jags this season, they would still miss the playoffs. That roster is a dumpster fire.
I often think about all the QBs that got drafted onto crap teams and went nowhere. Makes me think the Elway, Manning method is smart.

I think I missed this one, but it is interesting…

Sounds like they better invest in a legitimate down field threat for him to fully take advantage of his skillset... No more NKeal Harry or Agholor types, lets get our young QB a real stud at WR for once

metchie and jones work really well together. I know metchie had the torn acl and he drops a ton of balls, but he and jones, in our offense would be perfect.

What round we talking for Metchie?

How about Jameson Williams ? If we are talking deep threat he is the guy

We've been lacking a true X for a while. Agholor isn't it and there really isn't a natural type like that on the team. That along with a quick slot option is crucial imo. A little surprised we didn't elevate Wilk.

After getting the OL stabilized these are the two most important tasks for offense. Get a real bully that can win outside, take the top off a defense, block and occasionally draw a double. And a slot option you can move around and offers yac. Someone to make things a little easier. A long-term replacement for White is a close 3rd. Maybe Cook or there's a few other good rec backs coming out.

This offense works hard for everything. Recently just wrote about this in my thread. This isn't "let's get a shiny toy" we need to throw the kitchen sink at Mac in terms of resources. Him succeeding is the most important goal for this franchise.

He had some issues with learning the OSU offense and wasn't exactly a killer in the blocking department. Part of the reason he left OSU. He's been a little better with blocking but I've been thinking about the fit.
What round we talking for Metchie?
If he's right, progressing on pace and we're not hearing any bad news. 3rd-4th.

Probably passing on WR in round one unless we get lucky and AK Browncalf (Treylon Burks, cross between DK & AJ imo) or Garrett Wilson (assuming medical + good combine) are on the board.

Williams and Olave are two others to a lesser extent imo. Or wait until round two to see if one of them are on the board.

It's a pretty good class with a decent depth. Next two are really good as well.

Trying to pick a Pats WR isn't easy though. We haven't taken a lot of early swings and obviously are particular about who we like. I remember the recent James quote from turning down the Manning's ... “Our rookies are harder to find than most witness protection programs.”

I hear you but for a guy with rare speed who draw double teams i have his blocking skills bottom on my list. Hill for example is probably not a great blocker either i guess or davante adams.

BGC,
Wilkerson is not activated because of the protection rules for the practice squad. He has run out of free passes to join the 53 man roster. If he were to join for this game he would need to stay on the roster. He can come on and off with no restrictions after the regular season is over. Hopefully we will see him in the playoffs.

Did it really seem that he was recalled often enough to max out his free passes…?

I couldn't find the article that I read. Off the top of my head I think that you get two free before the team needs to create a permanent roster spot or the player must clear waivers. Whatever the number is Wilkinson was on the active roster prior to the Jaguars game.

Williams is a SPEED guy! He is a great receiver and can flat out run most defenders on the field!
Methcie is a possession receiver. He was Jones and Young’s 3rd down go to guy. He is fast, but not elite fast like Smith, Williams, and Waddle.
He has cleaned up his drops this year, not perfect but much better than last year.
He torn his ACL in SECCG. Not sure if he comes out next year or returns.

Oh trust me, I get the appeal for sure. I just try to look at it from a Pats / Bill lens. And obviously blocking for a WR is big here and literally kept Harry a job lol. Again just looking at things from a Pats pov where we ran the ball as much as anyone in the league save for 2-3 teams.

I hear you though and wouldn't mind the help. We need to throw the kitchen sink at Mac in terms of resources.

*edit*
He has a chance to be WR1. Again just pretending to be Bill. We need a legit deep threat, field stretcher though in the worst way. Someone that can get in sync with Mac.

I agree with you, I just don’t really like the idea that blocking is that important for our deep threat wr who offers speed to prevent defenses from stacking the boxes and I mean legit deep threat. Those guys are most of the time not the tallest and not heavy so they are anyway not essential to the succes of our run game. They are blocking cornerbacks or safety’s most of the time anyway, especially when we run two TE sets we need some speedy guys to open the MOF. We need someone who can bring some YAC and beat press coverage and gets constant separation imo. I know this is a lot but this offense needs a guy like that. Yesterday Mac had a lot of time but separation or route concepts called were not great in the situations. When we are trailing this offense has a hard time bc at some point depending on quarter you must throw bc running takes to much time. I hope we Adress this
