NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION Week 15 Other NFL Games Thread

What's the relevance of our run defense to this conversation?

It doesn't appear elite but it's good enough to win in my eyes. "Fixable"? What does this even mean? Is it good enough to win games? Yeah.

Get on.
I made a comment that I wish our run defense was as good as the Bucs run D was. Not sure why that was hard to follow.

Our run defense wasn’t really tested until last night and it didn’t measure up. It’s good enough against weak run offenses that’s all we know.

Davis and Murphy-Bunting are terrible starting CB’s.

NO seems to own TB. I don't get it.

Have the Bucs been shut out in the 1st quarter this year?

That's not what you said, lol.

You literally said, "Our run D has issues that may not be fixable this year".

It wasn't a, 'I wish we were this good' ... it was a, 'we have issues and we might not be able to fix it'.

That's a negative take.
Yes I did. I said both things and I don’t think it’s a negative take. Negative is saying playoff teams are going to run all over us and we won’t stop them.

Is Arians eating popcorn on the sidelines again? The first time I saw him doing that I couldn't believe it.

This Saints team stinks but they beat Tom and the Pats already. Crazy season

No, you said that our run defense "has issues and might not be fixable this year". It wasn't a direct comparison to Tampa, it was a criticism of New England.

Our run defense was fine last night. They got beat up in the 1st half but were solid in the 2nd half. The defense was good enough to win that game if they didn't turn the ball over three times, give up 7 points due to a blocked point, and gifted Indy 3 points on the FG/offside snafu.

I don't think they're an elite run defense, but I sure wouldn't say they have fundamental issues that cannot be fixed, or that if they face a team who wants to run it every play, that they'll be completely outmatched.

It's a team sport and I have confidence that the run defense (and the defense in general) is capable of performing at the level necessary to beat good teams. It comes down to how the team, collectively, performs.

Al Michaels taking the night off huh?

The Bucs need to try running the ball a little bit. Can't be so one dimensional.

Bruce Ariens was like my parents growing up. My parents always threatened me with harsh punishments of groundings for months if I missed a curfew or screwed up some way. But if I was punished on a Sunday, I was already given furloughs by that Friday night.

That is what Ariens did with Antonio Brown and his alleged zero tolerance policy towards Brown.

That was a funny comment by Chris saying Tom’s hair looks better at 44 than in his 20’s. It sticks out like a sore thumb.

You actively said that a part of the defense has "issues" and that those issues may not be fixable this year. Hard to take that in any tone other than a negative one, especially contextualized with their record and recent stretch of play.

I don't see evidence the Patriots have an elite run defense, but I don't see evidence that they have a flaw with their run defense so severe and fundamental that they cannot win big games against good teams in the postseason.

"Tampa's run defense is in a different stratosphere, man would it be nice to have a run D that good. Ours should be good enough to win playoff games if the team collectively plays well, though".

That to me is the take here without the negative color to it. YMMV.
