NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION Week 15 Other NFL Games Thread

...this is almost word for word what Bills fans said about our running game.
When we do it it is because we were good, when other teams do this with us than it is not because we were bad

I agree with everything, except I'm a believer that you have to count those long runs. Were they mistakes or weakness? Not sure.

The Taylor TD run was because the Pats sold out against the run because they expected the Bills to play it safe. The only problem is that when you sell out against the run, if you do not stop the runner near the line of scrimmage, you are screwed because there is no one playing off the line to pick the runner up if he gets by the line.

Of course that is exactly the same thing with Harris' run against the Bills. The Bills sold out against the run because they knew the Pats were not passing.

I cannot remember the situation with the 37 yard run.

What is your point with these constant, “but Bills fans!!” posts?

Are you expecting a Patriots’ forum to take a sympathetic view of opponents and a harsh view of the Patriots? Do you expect fans to stop giving our team the benefit of the doubt, the team which just went on a 7 game win streak? Do you expects fans to pump the breaks and focus on the reasons for negativity in lieu of positive things to focus on? Or do you just want to make everyone else miserable alongside you, because you’re still upset about yesterday’s game?

Packers should be able to shread the Ravens defense

if i remember correctly it went from 36% chance for the bye, down to 17% chance for the bye.

If they had beaten the colts it was something like 55%

If I remember correctly, the Pats were like 60% chance for the bye. Now 538 and the NYTimes have them at 23% and 24% chance of getting the first round bye respectively. Basically, the Chiefs win and the Pats losing just flipped their odds of getting the bye because now the Chiefs are around 60% likely to get the first round bye.

Could be. 10 might be dicey for the playoffs. 11 and we’re in for sure

The way the teams in the 6-10 spots in the AFC rankings are playing, I still think there is a chance that a 9-8 makes the playoffs in the seventh seed.

I think the point is just that people make our run defense way better than it is. It is weak. We gave up to many yards, Yards per Carry etc. We need t face reality here. I’m not saying it’s the d line I think they improved but sth is still complete off. I guess the LB position need an overthink. Other teams with 3 base DT do have way more athletic LB who are not 250 + pounds and they are able to stop the run as well. I question the strategy here. Our LB are not fast enough to shoot those gaps or close to ball carriers outside

Steelers have been quite helpful this year! (Beating the Bills, Ravens, Titans)

Now they need to give us the ultimate gift of beating the Chiefs next week.

Extremely weak roughing the passer call on Rodgers. When can Mac start to get them?

Because it’s stupid to treat every other team like they suck and the Pats only ever lose because they screw up.

Two seasons taught my spoiled ass Pats fan life that absolutely nothing can be taken for granted. 2015 when we went 10-0 and lost 4 of our final 6 and of course 2019 when we lost in week 17 at home to Ryan Fitzpatrick and it cost us the Bye week.

The Jags game is the only real sure thing. But Bills who can take the division lead and at the Dolphins who might be in the playoffs if they win? I’m worried yeah.

When I say the run defense wasn't as bad as the numbers indicated yesterday, I am not intimating that the run defense isn't a concern. I do think it could be the Patriots' undoing if Derrick Henry comes back and the Pats face the Titans or Colts in the playoffs. I am just saying they did a decent job for a large portion of the game and just gave up a few (very costly) long runs.

They did show last night that they can play good run defense. They have to show that they can do it for a full 60 minutes.

But that wasn't my point. The Pats' run defense at times isn't good at all. I acknowledge it. I just felt for long stretches last night, they did play good run defense. They were just inconsistent at it and the overall numbers didn't reflect the entire story.

But both the Pats and Bills have a run defense issue or at least concern. Both has shown they can be run on. Luckily for the Pats' next week, the Bills have no running game and the Pats have a good one especially if Harris is back and close to 100%.

Hey Green Bay, you might want to play defense....

Perhaps this won’t age well but seems like Ravens are going to win this

Yeah I mean more the whole season. It's just not the level of run defense we need in our scheme. Our third down defense lives from LB rushers who can win with speed. I mean yeah we have Judon Wise and Barmore but Uche , Wino etc. are only useful in third and long not short. We can't really get a lot of those situations, which could be a reason for low snap counts of them.
