NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION Week 15 Other NFL Games Thread

With how the team looked after the bye week yesterday, I’m not entirely sure I want the 1 seed to be honest lol. Seems like they could use the constant grind more than a week of rest right now.

Sorry I disagree. A bye week and HFA throughout the playoffs is a huge advantage. I am guessing if the Pats get the bye, there is little chance they will come out as sluggish as they were last night in the division round. I think last night was a learning experience.

The bye is gone.

I thought we wouldn’t let the Colts run for 200 yards when that was literally their one strength and yet here we are. Wentz completed 5 passes and threw a pick and it was enough to win. Suffice to say Allen is better than Wentz.
I see what you're saying.

Pats mistakes were a huge reason why we lost, I have a lot of confidence that this team can clean things up.

Our run D is definitely weaker than our pass D. The Bills matchup should be more in our favor.

Teams like the colts or the titans (if henry comes back) are bad matchups for us.... and the game was still within reach last night.

Rodgers misses wide open adams for sure td, Aaron not ready for the NFL yet

No it's not. KC could lose to Pitt, Cincy, or Denver (a divisional game). All NE has to do is win out and hope for the best.

...this is almost word for word what Bills fans said about our running game.

I am not saying that the Pats were good against the run. I am just saying the 220 yards the Colts got does not truly reflect how the Pats handled the running game most of the night.

But the slight difference is that if you take away the Harris 64 yard run, the Bills still gave up 158 yards on the ground with the next longest run being 18 yards. The Patriots gave up a 67 yard run to Taylor and a 37 yard run to Dulin.

So the Bills fans have a similar argument, but they only had one really long play to skew the rushing numbers. The Pats had two.

If Pats are in a must win game in Miami to make the playoffs- it’s not ideal. We’ll know a lot more about this team a week from now.

Welcome to the post Brady era. It’s a battle and nothing is for sure. Just as it is for the other 31 teams.

The bye is gone.

That isn't true. The Pats could win out and the Chiefs could lose next week to the Bengals depending on which Bengals team shows up.

The odds of the Pats getting the bye are far less now, but certainly not impossible.

We were a bit disadvantaged coming into the Colts game...the NFL requires 5 days of rest in a bye week so we couldn't even practice until last Tuesday and then had a Saturday game on the road.

I don't think the Pats will be in a must win. They will certainly beat the Jags. So they will have at least 10 wins. They are likely to beat the Bills. So that would give them 11 wins. The Dolphins game could be for seeding in the playoffs.

The over 200 yards rushing is a bit misleading. Over a hundred of those yards were on two plays. For most of the game between the Colts' first TD drive and their last drive, the Pats did a decent job shutting down their running game.

Yes, Allen is a far better QB than Wentz (Wentz should have had 3-4 picks last night on 12 passes), but the Pats did a good job keeping Allen in the pocket the last game and made him ineffective.
I agree with everything, except I'm a believer that you have to count those long runs. Were they mistakes or weakness? Not sure.

thats a tough matchup for them. Cincy can dominate on the ground.
But the 29th pass defense and burrow is always good for a fumble or throw right to the DB

if i remember correctly it went from 36% chance for the bye, down to 17% chance for the bye.

If they had beaten the colts it was something like 55%

Spare me the “welcome to the post Brady era” crap.

Things were a battle and nothing was guaranteed when he was here too, and Brady would tell you exactly that himself.

Could be. 10 might be dicey for the playoffs. 11 and we’re in for sure

I forgot about that. Yeah, having the Monday night game followed by a Saturday night game after the bye ended up taking away some of the advantages of the bye. The Colts actually had an extra day of practice and didn't have to travel.

Much easier to take playoffs and a home playoff game for granted back then. Not so with a young QB.

Ravens game a reminder that Mark Andrews is really good and Jonnu Smith is overpaid.

Except for those times they didn’t.

You’re referring to playing Miami on the road as a difficult place to play, which ironically contains a lot of data from the Brady-era, too. Mac hasn’t played a single game in Miami during his NFL career.
