Good thoughts.

1. Run defense has given up 220 yards, 100 yards, 270 yards (worst-ever amount for a BB defense,) the last 3 games.
2. Godchaux and Bentley are weak links on run defense. Barmore and Collins should always play snaps over Godchaux and Bentley. Don't excuse Bentley, he was there when the Colts ran for 70 yards on their drive and didn't even try to pass once.

2. Self inflicted penalties and mistakes.

3. Red zone offensive woes continue aside from the Mac/Henry off-field BBQ connection.

...And this was one of the most well-coached games I've ever seen by an opponent. The Colts had an answer for everything we did...

Yeah, they definitely had the first half dominated through coaching. Well done by the Colts' staff.

This could be valuable going forward if they exposed vulnerabilities that other coaching staffs hadn't, yet.

And, I can't imagine this Pats team making this many mistakes again in a game. It was a season's worth of boneheaded and late decisions.

I think it is unfair to say Jones played like Zach Wilson for three quarters. He didn't have a good game, but he wasn't awful. I think he completed 8 of 11 passes in the first half. Yes, one of the incompletions was arguably his worst INT of the year, but he was still efficient with his passes. One of the incompletions was a perfect pass to Meyers on the sidelines in a tight window that Meyers dropped. A pass that would have been a big gain and would have stopped the Pats having their punt blocked for a TD on the next play.

He looked confused and out of sorts for much of those three-quarters. Did you have an epic meltdown like Wilson did against the Patriots, no. Did he looked confused like Wilson did, yes.

The Meyers drop was bad. He missed it so badly I have to wonder if he lost it in the dome lights or something. It wasn't like his hands abandoned him. It was like a centerfielder in baseball who just completely misreads the ball. I'm not making excuses for him, just speculating.

The hit on Harry was an DPI, he definitely got there before the ball.

I felt Jones' second INT was just a great defensive play. The ball was on target. The defender just jumped in at the right time and took the ball way.

I think it is unfair to say that Judon has hit a wall. This is the first game in seven games that he didn't record at least half a sack. It is also the first game since the second game vs. the Jets that he didn't record a QB hit. And don't forget that the last three games, including last night, he has played against some of the best offensive lines in the league where the team run heavily and threw sparely (except for the Bills where Allen threw for 30 attempts). In all of those games, In all three of the games, the QB played awful.

Forget that they are paying Wentz that much, the Colts gave up a first round pick for him. They had an opportunity to sit him for the rest of the season a few weeks ago and turn that first rounder into a second rounder. Many people speculated whether they would. They probably should have.

Disagree on Jones. He misread the coverage and threw that ball too flat. He'll learn from it and won't do that again against a zone like Indy.

Agree on Judon. He was, as usual, getting hogtied around the throat by the OL and the refs weren't calling it and yet they felt the need to flag Meyers on a boarderline call. I'd rather the officals only call the blatant stuff but either way just be F'ing consistent.

Agree on Wentz.

Surprised after a bye week with plenty of rest that the Pats seemed lethargic and unprepared for that game; coaching, execution or design??

Mac Jones seemed to personalize the Pats lethargy, he did not seem to be himself that we have seen in the 7 win stretch.

Too many penalties, although it did not effect the outcome, Duggar's ejection was idiotic on his part.

In this 4 week stretch against quality opponents they are 2 & 1, now they need to focus on getting ready for the bildo's...

Oh, I disagree. The penalties absolutely effected the outcome of the game as did the Duggar ejection (could have used him on that long run that sealed the game).

I'd argue Mac fully completed the comeback. If the special-teams hadn't jumped offside, that 20-17 score-line would've been 17-17. I saw more than enough from Mac tonight to feel confident that he can handle adversity and lead the team from behind.


I didn't see Judon lined up over Fisher very much but I'll have to re-watch the game again. I'm not noticing Judon dropping off at all, might just be that he's getting more attention now. I don't see anything concerning with him.

He didn’t complete the comeback. Saying you got close enough to blame an excuse doesn’t cut it. The score is on the board. If you think belichick felt getting within 3 was a win and they could go home happy because they jumped offsides on a fg im but sure what to say here.

This happens sometimes when you sell out. Hightower is the deepest defender. Everything in football is risk vs reward.

MAC - 1st RZ INT was a quintessential rookie mistake, just didn't see Leonard. If we even got a FG there, the game would have been different.
The 2nd INT was just too late of a throw. The timing was off on a handful of passes, maybe rust, maybe poor practice affects?
Same timing issue on the flea flicker. Which Bolden did a great job of selling (although accidentally, and was close to disaster) But Mac rushed the throw unnecessarily. That would have been a massive play - likely a Harry TD if Mac saw him.

RUN D - seems they were just not physically ready to take the immediate punches from a solid OL and Taylor-the-beast.

MISTAKES - the punt block was just lazy. Cody-the-protector was just standing casually before the snap. And I've been noticing Bailey's long and deliberate style for a while. He needs to speed up his delivery a 1/2 second or so.
Mills missed 2 important tackles on the outside while not even trying to get off his WR block to stop Taylor.
2 Huge missed INT's - JC & Collins. Both of those should have been caught - and would have made a big difference, at least 6 pt. swing.
Meyer's drop, Bolden in on the 4th down run (why not Rham there??)
Couldn't stop any of the Wentz sneaks - for 4(?) 1st downs.
False starts & Offsides

A lot of uncharacteristic moments. With an intense re-focusing week, I'm sure they'll be ready to play better vs. Bills.
I do like how they had to let Mac sling it in the 4th. I'd like to see a change up for once where they do that more in the 1st half.

The problem wasn’t selling out though. The problem was a bad angle by HT that took both defenders out of the play. This is 100% HT, not the defensive call. I hope he plays it better next time.

Last night was painful to watch, but we all remember similar hiccups from many Brady led teams before. I still like our chances of making some noise in the playoffs. As long as Mac continues to "learn" from these games as much as he does from winning, I'm feeling good about the future prospects going forward. We all know the game execution we saw last night was certainly not what BB had preached and practiced leading up to it. Looking forward to see how this team responds at home against Buffalo.

Parcells used to say most games come down to a handful of plays, whoever makes those plays usually wins. The Pats made a couple fatal mistakes in special teams and a couple others in the game, they clean that up and it's a different game. Have to clean it up for next week.

He overran the play. It happens. The fact that the hole was enormous is more the problem. The problem was by selling out, one miss and it’s a TD. If they weren’t selling out there would be a second level to prevent him taking it to the house.

I’ve racked my brain to try and remember a guy doing something so nuts. If they find the footage, I hope the league gives Jordan the shaft. It’s ok to sack a guy, but it’s really a junk play to do something like this while your playing ball. He must have been trying to get into his head.
