Many of the "drops" were clearly wind-affected balls. No, most of Belichick’s wins against Buffalo are pure ass kickings. Patriots being the better team.
On Monday though, the Bills truly beat themselves.
- 5 drops
- A dropped TD
- An unforced fumble
- A missed field goal
- A missed PI in the endzone (that’s the refs fault, not Bills)
The "dropped" TD will in no way be recorded as a drop. It didnt even hit him in the hands. It hit him in the forearm after he had trouble locating the ball, because the wind moved it at least 10 feet. It was a direct consequence of the wind conditions and was the precise reason why nobody was going deep all night.
I will give you the "unforced" fumble. It was a bad handoff, not into the gut but high into the chest. That's fundamentals. That's poor coaching. That is beating yourself. It is also part of the game. If coaching were equalized, there would be fewer banners hanging in Gillette.
A missed FG was not unexpected at all. There was "first guessing" before it even happened. Recall a coach deciding that an extra point against the wind was not a reasonable option?
If you are saying the contested pass to Knox in the endzone was PI, then thre's really no support for that. The defender made a play on the ball. If we are going to get into non-calls, we would have to discuss the green light the refs gave to the Bills O-line to hold throughout the game.
