MNF pregame thread: Pats @ Buffalo

he New England Patriots downgraded rookie outside linebacker Ronnie Perkins to out for Monday’s AFC East matchup with the Buffalo Bills.

This rookie has not even been on the field in Regular season. What is wrong with him?

He seemed fairly raw to me from what I could see coming out of college. I think there are some teams where he would have played a specialist role, but his responsibilities as an OLB here are more varied than he'd seen before, and there are four guys ahead of him on the depth chart (Judon, Van Noy, Uche, Winovich), plus Collins and Hightower play some outside snaps throughout the game too. If he was a first round pick I'd be a little more worried, but we've seen them take project picks in the third and beyond before. Sometimes they work out, sometimes they don't, but next year will be interesting to watch for him. He's super athletic and all the stories coming out of college were about him having a great energy, so if he can learn the nuances of the position with a red shirt year, he should be an asset going forward.

Jimmy G is an NFL quality QB even if he's not here.

And we don't know what Mac Jones is going to become. But he's already shown to be an NFL quality QB. I mean the team is 8-4 and he is passing for 70% what does he have to do to show he belongs?
Drive the offense to score from behind to win with two minutes or less to go against a quality opponent. Almost did that v. TB (clank!) so pretty sure he can do it.

So latest forecast for Buffalo Monday Evening temps low 50's going to high 40's by the end of the game, Rain throughout to game winds 20-25mph.

Tough for even Allen to throw deep in that wind. Pats OL need to bully Buffalo D as Indy did.

Are you looking at the forecast for Ohio or something?

We (Buffalo) are definitely not in the 40’s or 50’s tonight lol.

Game forecast is 29-35 degrees.

Looks like rain won't be a factor tonight...just heavy wind gusts of 25 MPH

Almost the same. I think Orchard Park is closer to Buffalo than Foxboro is to Boston. The weather is weird there though. I’ve seen one of their suburbs be in a blizzard and the one next to it sunny.

I live in Syracuse (grew up in Northfield, MA) which is about an hour and a half from Buffalo and the wind has been absolutely ridiculous today. (blew panels out of my vinyl fence). If it’s anything like this tonight any ball that is in the air is not going to end up where it was intended to go. A punt or kick directly into the wind and chances are it’s going to actually end up behind the line of scrimmage. If it’s a cross wind the ball may end up in the stands. I can’t imagine throwing at all but it would have to be a short low profile dart I would think.

It‘s definitely one of those Matt Cassel pooch punt type days, when the wind blew the ball while it was on the ground for 20 yards and the Pats downed it at the 1.

Hopefully it dies down a bit over the course of the day.

Look out for the bildos on the runway...

You are right, the info I cited yesterday was from weather.com, the current forecast is going from the mid thirties to around 30, There now appears to be no precip during the game. The winds are forecast to be higher also, the front sped up it appears.

I don't know how good our run defense really is. 270+ to the Titans should not have happened. Hopefully that was only a fluke. We're not going very far if we can't stop the run.

We'll be tested tonight. Singletary had 2 good games against us last season (24 carries for 122 and 7 first downs) and Allen was Allen (14 carries for 58 and 5 first downs). They also have Breida who has been getting more looks in the last few weeks. We had a tough time against Breida last year in that second Dolphins game (12 carries for 86).

So what is the final story on Dugger. Was he on the plane or not?

Dugger out is big, not only because he's valuable against a great Bills' passing attack, but he's equally valuable as a run stopping safety if the weather conditions turn this into a slug fest. His absence for this particular game is bigger than the White absence is for Buffalo.

How do you get from Syracuse to Buffalo in an hour and a half?? That's like 150 miles . . . you're flying, man. I live in Rochester, right between the two of those cities, and it takes me almost an hour and a half to get into Buffalo. Unless you're way on the western side of Syracuse, and counting time to get to the stadium -- I dunno, I'm a little nervous to drive on I-90 if you're zooming around there.

This will be a great test of Mac's accuracy in poor weather. I like our chances to line up and run the ball as the more physical team. Let's come out of tonight with a statement win and CotY accolades for BB.

Here you go: Dugger is a no go.

Not officially out yet - Davis is there probably just in case he can't clear his tests in time. Guess we'll find out soon.

I think he will be out anyway though since he didn't practice.

Hope our boys watch out for bildos. Don't want them losing their footing out there, I hear buffalo fans like em slippery.
