Pretty sure Brian Hoyer had a better pro career than any non-Pats AFC East developed QB during the time between Chad Pennington and Josh Allen. Sanchez is the only one close.

Ryan Tannehill? He’s not upper echelon, but has been a 10 year starter with a winning record.

"Oops I did it again."

I already made the same comment back on page 1. But keep trying. Definitely an improvement to just copy others in an attempt at better humor. It's getting better!! Thumbs up.

So needy. Jesus, seek counseling.

It totally does.

Part of me thinks BB is a victim of his own longevity.

I believe if he was here from just 2000-2008 we wouldn't have any BB bashing whatsoever.

The problem is we have 21 years of mistakes he has made to point to.
Bill Belichick makes less mistakes in a season than many HCs make in a game. If he's being criticized it probably has more to do with letting Brady walk.

It was fueled by a lot of Brady leaving bitterness.

By contrast, although everybody loves him, obviously only a few saw how special Flutie was. It was as obvious about Doug as it was about Montana @ND. He made his teams winners.

The entire NFL ignored him as he hung around his home in Natick playing pickup basketball for over six months. After rightfully, mercifully firing Berry, Kiam could have signed him and made him the starter for relatively cheap, the stands would have been filled and the team would have at least been in the playoffs.

Most people believe media narratives, like the Patriots were horrible forever. We were not. Even in 1981, that team had lots of talent and lost most games by a close margin. Local and national media treated three (3) seasons from 1990-92 without a quarterback like a quarter century.

If we had gone 0-16 last year, it would have done nothing to diminish Belichick's accomplishments, ability or reputation with me. I know the Cleveland years were hard for Browns fans. I understand. But the difference between a team learning and building, and one that is treading water going nowhere is not always reflected in the yearly records.

The writing was indeed on the wall at the outset of 2001. He had pressure on him. For me, it had already been painfully obvious for years that Bledsoe was only getting older, slower and not developing the football acumen he never possessed in the first place. I trusted that somebody as smart as Belichick had to see that eventually. As with Eason, it took an injury to get him out of there, but once he was, Belichick saw what was going on and acted accordingly, instead of just worshipping Bledsoe like the Browns fans expected him to do with Kosar.

I liked a LOT of what I saw last year. We were competitive in several respects, with some huge, glaring holes in some key positions. After almost thirty years watching Parcells and Belichick coached teams, you'd think at least some fans would get that becoming good often involves some adversity, stumbling blocks and lessons in the form of losses.
I know they had some bad stretches and ownership had no money, but the way I remember the Pats is that they had good teams in each decade.
They made the AFL title game in the 60s, though my recollection of that rout is foggy.
They were robbed of a SB berth and a likely SB win by Ben Dreith in the 70s.
They faced a defense in the SB in the 80s that no other team scored on in the playoffs.
And they were deserted by their HC for another SB loss in the 90s.
Then we had the GOAT dynasty.

I agree that Flutie should have been given a chance. Unfortunately the naysayers used his size against him. Too bad because he played much bigger.

You gotta respect Belichick. As a matter of fact, i"m convinced when Belichick is your coach, you get a 200% field power bonus.
Bill has had many innovative ideas but one of my favorites is that he coached the team on how to handle the longer SB halftimes. The guy leaves no stone unturned.

Most real Patriot fans will focus on the team that remains after belichick leaves rather than memories. There won’t be a need for a sub forum
There was no need for a sub-forum but someone complained. There's more Brady talk here than there anyway, and this is supposed to be about Belichick.

No question. There was always the complaining of bad drafts by fans who never understood what a good/bad draft is.

Ian’s call. I trust his judgment. It’s Patsfans.com not brady.com

You were the one complaining about the need for a sub-forum, not me. I was just trying to help.

I've always considered the draft to be a crap shoot so I don't get all worked up over picks. It isn't easy to project how a 20 yo player will turn out when he's 25.

Ian himself said there was an absolute need for a Brady sub forum. Why should the rest of us be reading Tampa bay stuff on the main board?

you CAN thread ignore...although I don't think that would stem the proliferation of Brady posts that just pop up like brush fires in many threads

I didn’t complain at all, I said there would be no need. Jesus
