Of course the government knows what is best for us.
The thing that can be banned is the green bean casserole.
Admit it, you jsut want to skim off and eat the fried onions on top. Nobody wants the nasty green beans and the cream of mushroom, or whatever else the goop is. Just put out a can of the Durkee fried onions.
keepers
sweet potato caserole- none of those marshmallows, though, just walnut / brown sugar buttery yumminess
Stuffing- Pepperidge farm, not too much fancied up, either. Though my Mom made a killer oyster dressing, my wife won't hear it.
cranberry sauce- never, EVER, EVER, from a can, fresh real cranberries, cooked up, sweetened, and chilled, slathered on top of the turkey
turkey- smoked or slow cooked
apple pie - home made, served warm, with vanilla ice cream
bread- homemade yeast rolls or a warm-from-the oven braided bread
OK but non-essential
mashed potatoes - love them, but prefer sweet potatoes for Thanksgiving
ham- if you have turkey haters it is good. My family, other than me, hates pork, so we don't ever have ham. But growing up it topped turkey.
macaroni & cheese - love it, but don't need it
deviled eggs- I am down for a few. But just a few.
pumpkin pie- good to have when the apple pie is all gone, I guess, with whipped cream
pecan pie- far superior, but usually save that for the Christmas spread.
banish
green bean casserole
all salads- just give up the illusion. Not the day to eat lettuce
anthing with jello in it- just no, crowds out stomach space useful for apple pie ala mode
anything totally non-traditional, like sushi, pizza, roasts, lobster, etc. Not bad food, but nothing screams Thanksgiving about it.
Never seen it on a Thanksgiving table either.I've never seen Mac N Cheese at Thanksgiving, is that common? I'm for it, just never heard of it in Maine.
C'mon RW. In this case, "the government" is a group of highly trained experts that we have asked to give us accurate science about health and safety. We aren't victims here, we are in control of it. And yes, in this case, this advice has literally led to a reduction of hundreds of hospital visits every Thanksgiving. It was even highlighted in an episode of West Wing where the President was going to poison his staff because he didn't know better.
lolGuess i got my answer. Ass ass ass
Lobster is one of the most versatile foods out there ! (and the reason everyone here is $$$$$$)Shes since passed away but my aunt used to make it for Christmas dinner with lobster.
It was excellent.
Judon sure to hurt some feelings here
I love lobsterShes since passed away but my aunt used to make it for Christmas dinner with lobster.
It was excellent.
Mac-religiousIn the south it is. I still consider it sac-religious. Put me squarely in Team Judon's camp.
Fine call me names but everybody eats it so thereHe’s right about Mac and cheese but it stays around because it’s the one thing the **** up in the family might be able to bring.
They Hate Their CoachI also think his disdain for Mac and cheese is a shot at our QB. I don’t think Judon likes Mac and the team has locker room issues. BB has lost the team.
Are the Patriots a real football team? You should know by now that EVERYTHING is debatable on this board.
