God forbid a businessman invests in his business with the goal of recouping his money and *gasp* more on top of that. Some of you people need to grow up and stop being jealous of other people's success.
Why is it so wrong that fans want to maximize the fan experience and perhaps even winning (ie crowd noise) over Kraft's pockets. If the Patriots win more games at the expense of Kraft's bank accounts, I'll damn those bank accounts to high heaven, if that's the trade off.

Amazing how fast things change because this stadium when it opened in 2002 was state of the art but is now behind at least 15 larger and crazier feats of stadium design.

Also nowadays a capacity of 67k just doesn’t cut it. You want 80k at least.
Meh. I was at SoFi for The Rolling Stones two weeks ago and will be at the game tomorrow…I’ll take Gillette Stafium 10 times out of 10. Such a better viewing experience

put the fans seating BACK in the end zone instead of those goddyamed potted trees and friggin' kokktail tables...jeezus, nothing spells "snotty elitist POS" like what they did. Real fans WANT an end zone right on top of the end zone so we can scream at Discount Double Dork and watch him pee his pajamas like the "crack under pressure" biatch he is. I say this because I've SEEN and LIVED it when I held season's tickets pre-Kraft.

I like the idea of closing off that end, but I think it's also a bummer since one of the coolest things about visiting Gillette midweek is being able to walk up and look under the bridge at the field. But having the seats wrap around would certainly help noise-wise, but I'm one of those guys who isn't big on change. That seems to be something that's becoming a problem the older I get

Every other stadium I've been to is better. Acoustics, bathrooms, quirks, concessions, turf, access etc.
really? i'd be interested in knowing what other stadiums youve been to... the ones ive been to basically suck.

Arrowhead, Mile High, Lincoln Financial Field, State Farm Stadium (Phoenix/Glendale), New Soldier Field, Old Soldier Field, Lambeau. Old Veterans Stadium.

Jacksonville DID suck.

I left the east coast before they built the new Giant/Jet Stadium. I have not heard good things about it. Old Giant Stadium was ok. It did have the pot smoking zones which was kinda funny back in the day.

Old Falcons Stadium was basically empty when I was there in 2001. I think they have a new one now. I was not impressed then.

I would like to visit Vegas. It's supposed to be the best one now? Or is the stadium in LA better?

Where have you been?

Stadium is LA is a dump. Parking is $80-$100+. Only in one of the parking lots are you allowed to tailgate, and you’ll pay ~$150 for that privilege. Took me 2+ hours to drive ~15 miles home after a concert last week. Inglewood is terrible and there’s nothing around the stadium. Stadium feels more sterile than an operating room.

Also, LA sports fans are the absolute worst in the country; I can guarantee you that stadium will be at least 40% Patriots fans tomorrow.

As I said in another post, give me Gillette 10 times out of 10.

Soldier Field, seriously? Maybe if you like space ships. I've read articles bashing Old Veterans Stadium.

who said anything remotely close to that?? quick to get defensive aren't we

I'll add that this isn't like adding wildcard games or 17th/18th game to the schedule just to pad the pockets.

He's going to have to spend real money to make this happen.

Sure, he'll get it back over time, but presumably because people like the new amenities and additional seats.

I remember reading at the time it was built that it was a good not great stadium.

You can still see some evidence of this, one example is the number of seams in the glass of the luxury suites shown in my photo above.

Larger panes of glass were available but they and the structure to support them cost more.

Bob was spending his own money and he ain't as rich as Jones or Kroenke, so that's what you get.
Kraft has a net worth of 8.3 billion, only about 2 billion behind Jones and Kroenke.

I hope they keep the lighthouse. I agree closing the end will help with crowd noise. But it won't matter when the home crowd is sitting on their ass and not making noise. For a while there the home crowd was complacent. Folks there can get loud when they want to and its noticable. And if this helps keep it in I am all for it. It will be weird not having the opening.

Also strange that today we consider a 20 year old stadium obsolete or outdated.
How will closing that end affect the kicking game? Isn’t the lighthouse end the direction that is more difficult and, often results in missed kicks especially for visiting teams unfamiliar with the shifting air currents?

Whereas 109 year old Fenway park is not obsolete, or is it?

Can they also replace everyone responsible for organizing and directing parking, and finally get that sh*tshow straightened out?

Can't blame Kraft for enhancing the footprint and making more money. My only hope is they don't fill it with oft vacant red seats...
