OT: Dolphins might be closing in on a deal for Deshaun Watson (edit: or not)

The Dolphins with Deshaun would basically be the Texans. Mediocre defense, horrible OL but some good weapons & an elite QB to make the playoffs. Similarly they would also lack draft capital to upgrade the team.

Alot of reputable sources are tweeting about this deal so I expect it to get done. Weird timing at 1-5 though.

Their reported last offer to the Texans right before the season was two firsts and Tua. So odds are that they will give up more than that. It is a bargain compared to what it could have been if Watson didn't have sexual assault/rape allegations against him, but it will still be a lot. And Watson most likely won't play this year and may not next year either.

I had seen reports earlier that one of the complications to a possible trade was that Houston didn’t want Tua back in the trade.

Good move by the Dolphins if they pull it off even if it’s unlikely Watson plays until the NFL’s investigation into him is complete. They would be getting one of the best QBs for presumably a bargain because of the accusations made against him.

Forget about this season. If the Dolphins land Watson, it’s really bad for the Patriots. That would be two young, MVP candidate quarterbacks in the AFC East. If it blows up in Miami’s face, it’s not like they’ll be in much worse position than they are now with Tua.

It would make sense. I don't see why the Texans would want Tua. Tua doesn't look to be a QB you really can build your franchise around. Right now they are drafting second next year if the season ended today. They are likely to be in the top 5 picks next draft, if not #1. They are likely to get the top QB on the board or the second best QB. Two of the other teams vying for the top overall pick already have their QB of the future (Jacksonville and the Jets).

He's torched us a couple times now. Once we blitzed and he killed us and the other time we hung back and he picked us apart. Not looking forward to having him in the division.

I don't think he is suspended, just that there is an agreement that he won't play or hang with the team. I believe he is still on the roster.
