Sad to see BB's legacy ripped apart like this

Media are the pond scum. They think it's about them and if they were to think of intelligent questions instead of just trying to get click bait material, he would spend an hour at the podium and answer the questions. There are far too many people in the media game and far too many of them are just trying to get 'clicks' to move up.
The media is completely in their right to ask why he didn't go for it on 4th & 3; why the kneel downs at the half; why abandon heavy personnel that was working.

His answers left a lot more questions than answers. They were quite baffling.

This is what people are not getting. The media can write these glowing stories of Bill, and can call him the goat, but when things go bad, they have to just shut up? Thats not how they work. If the pats are losing or if odd decisions are made, he can be questioned. Just like everyone else is.

Sad to know such crap is being written about Belichick and even sadder to see some Patriots "fans" buying into it.

If BB is not a first ballot guy, it's time to close down the HOF.
He will be and it wont be close, but like every player, coach, cheerleader, etc, they can be questioned about things.

Coaching/managing great talent and keeping it together is more difficult than taking low or medium talent and winning a little more than expected. I don’t think the 90s Bulls win six championships without Phil Jackson. Maybe he can’t rebuild a crappy team or spin wool into gold, but dealing with success, fame, everyone wanting credit and a spotlight, is very hard to manage. To keep it together for 20 years in the NFL is exceptional.

And all that matches Bill’s personality. A hardass. A guy who doesn’t tolerate flashy individual glory over unsung contributions for team success. A perfectionist who demands perfection from everyone else. A guy who leverages the team’s position and reputation.

Some of these qualities that made him so great at sustaining the dynasty, may have opposite effects on a less talented team though.

He absolutely should be. But I don't think the odds are zero that he isn't.

A lot of those voters are not exactly his buddies (Ron Borges is one of them. LOL) - and I'm sure there will be a few who are more than happy to stick it to him.

He's got 6 SB wins as a HC. He's getting into the HOF in his first year.

That is the case, and 12-4 is 12-4. 80 mil dollars was just spent on 2 receivers and 2 TE's that all performed well in other places. in 2019....we had an undrafted rookie. Harry....and an Edelman who gave up his body and health for this team. No TE's. So yeah, its better
Just because you spend money it doesn't necessarily improve the talent level or make the team better.

Before the 2020 season began absolutely no one anywhere was saying it was a throwaway Covid season. In fact people expected Bill the chess master to have an advantage over the rest of the league in dealing with the restrictions. But that turned out to be completely wrong and so midseadon Bill went Baghdad Bob on the radio to basically say they sucked on purpose.

So are you saying they spent money on the wrong players? Does spending 160 mil in the offseason on the wrong players, cause cap issues?

You nailed it, they in fact said Bill would be to handle this better than anyone and the pats will take advantage of all those other stupid teams that cant....now its an excuse for some reason why the pats didnt win.

We spent a lot of money on offensive skill players but if your offensive line crumbles it goes to waste.

Defensively we are worse.

First, Bill asked for this. Off the top of my head, he threw away drafts picks in ‘08 and ‘14 drafting QB’s to replace his band aid in Brady (rather than trying to improve the team) and then tried to trade him in 2017.

Now he’s gone and Bill has turned back the clock to 2000-2001 pre Brady with a 9-13 record. The team is competitive like they were pre Brady, but something happened and they were not good enough to overcome mistakes and lose.

Good to see more posters are seeing how bad Bill the GM has been for many years and how it gets exposed after the band aid (Brady) is ripped off. This draft looks a lot better than the last 7 years, but I don’t trust Bill can do it on a regular basis.

It’s funny how you can’t find how long Bill is signed for, but I think the Krafts ask for him to step down if we don’t see a winning season/playoffs by the time his contract runs out.

So did the players get worse on the oline or did the pass protection get worse? A lot of the same players are there that have been here.

I don't get this take at all. I think most sports journalists consider guys like Harbaugh and Tomlin to be great coaches and they've had a few seriously bad seasons each. The GOAT coach is permitted a rocky period as he navigates post-GOAT QB. Like how do you even make that argument? “Oh, Bill didn’t immediately have a powerhouse team within 1 season of Brady leaving, he’s a failure”

Tomlin has never had a losing season and harbaugh won a SB with Flacco and now has the next guy.

Tomlin has never had a losing season. But I think some of it was the notion that Bill touches a magic wand and they turn into goat players that floated out there. As I said, if you get the praise for winning, you should get questioned for losing.
