Gilmore traded to Carolina

I think he wanted off the sinking ship.
Right a 1-3 team that had 2 losses due to a fumble while in position to win, and a 3” miss of a FG against the defending SB champs with their clear QB of the future on board is a sinking ship.

Who are the two Pats CB's moving forward.

JC Jackson & Jones?

Jackson for sure. Jones is more of a slot corner (but he's really good at it). The other outside options right now are JJ Williams and Jalen Mills, dependent on what kind of receivers the other team is throwing at us. The wild card in the mix is Shaun Wade who we got from the Ravens, but he's a rookie who hasn't been active yet, so he might need more time.

Jackson, Jones, Mills, and Williams, depending on who they're playing. Myles Bryant is there, too.. Also, maybe Shaun Wade makes it to the active roster sometime soon.

Yup. Mills has been rotating between CB and SS, but has mostly been in the slot.

C'mon Tampa...give us Godwin...;)

So I'm just going to post this without reading the rest of this thread (too many pages) but the way I see it is BB likely tried to trade Gilmore. Gilmore likely told his agent to tell teams that he would not report if they would not meet his contract demands. No one was willing or able to pay him so that likely led to his release. Not sure what BB can do with the savings. Maybe flip a late round pick to a bad team wanting to shed some salary. I don't know.

I believe Jackson, Jones and Mills are far and away the best guys we have. Williams is still a mystery. Wasn't he a healthy scratch last week in place of practice squader Bryant? I would really like to see what we have with Shaun Wade, at least let him get his feet wet on special teams.

Mills has been excellent so far.

Apparently if he's traded he must remain on PUP list until week 6. If he is released he has no restrictions. Interesting.

Why do you keep repeating this? Godwin has a cap hit of $15.9M, so it’s virtually impossible to begin with. Tampa Bay is trading away one off their best players and a guy on Brady’s no-trade list?

The Patriots just blew their load at WR/TE, and Godwin isn’t even some big, fast outside guy that they’re lacking. A lot of his skills overlap with the guys they have. It will take a mega deal to get him signed long-term.

It’s a totally nonsensical idea, and I just gave you a list of low-cost assets in Tampa who would help the Patriots in areas of need.

Clearly the Football Gods are conspiring against the Patriots.
