The OL is keeping this team from being above average. They can reasonably score 23-25 PPG & allow 17-19 PPG with better OL play. Hopefully it won't be too late before they turn it around

So Herron is our best OL? Good lord!

Henry Anderson torn pectoral...done for the year

Couldn’t score points in that Super Bowl we won three years ago either but....

defense exists.

there’s 22 dudes.

well sign threats once we know what we have defensively. Period. Mac wants to complain his way out after not being able to score 20 to win against the sb champs?

move on from him too.
Huh? I don't know what you're talking about. I am not blaming Mac for anything. I think Mac has played well and done as much as he can with some with what he is given. I don't know what the Super Bowl a few years ago or Brady, who I assume his the "him" I need to move on from, has anything to do with my post.

Ball security, ball security, ball security. Those are my top three issues with the Patriots right now. If they hold on to the ball they are at least 3-1 this year. The talent is there, the turnovers need to stop/slow down. Great game, very entertaining and I will continue to enjoy watching the Patriots win or lose. These losses will make us appreciate all the wins we are about to experience going forward. We have been a spoiled fan base for a long time, I'm enjoying seeing the rebuild starting to take shape.

I am starting to acept the fact that this year may not be all about this year. Yes, I know that contracts are basically set up, up and down the roster, with this year in mind. But we are not ready to win, consistently, and this year is about getting Mac 100% all in on the offense and his decision-making. This is likely tough to swallow, but it is a rebuilding year, something the other 31 teams do on occasion. Last year was a lost year not even a rebuilding year, marking time as dead money was shed, since I don't think we did much rebuilding at all in 2020.
Maybe so (about it not being about this year), but I'm fine with that. Why?

I figure the single most valuable asset in the NFL is a long term solution at QB. Many teams have short term solutions (Bucs, Packers, Vikings, Rams, etc.), unproven QBs either because of performance or injury history (Jags, Jets, Bears, 49ers, Fins, etc.), or marginal placeholder QBs (lots of these).

According to my extensive NFL film analysis (i.e., arbitrarily pulling it out of my ____), the teams with a clear long term solution at QB are:
  • Cardinals: Kyler Murray
  • Cowboys: Dak Prescott
  • Chiefs: Patrick Mahomes
  • Chargers: Justin Herbert
  • Raiders: Derek Carr
  • Ravens: Lamar Jackson
  • Bengals: Joe Burrow
  • Bills: Josh Allen
  • And now, based on last night and other indications, the Pats: Mac Jones
That is only a bit more than a quarter of the teams, 9 of the 32, that have a long term solution at QB including the Pats now. It is so important that many teams spend decades trying to search for one. I would argue that with the Pats it took only one year, and as you say last year had a purpose too in shedding dead money. So, I think we have a bright future with Mac Jones as our long term solution (and a dirt cheap one at that) at QB.

Lavonte David made the play of the game on his batted pass that set up Folk's miss. Meyers was so wide open he would have taken the ball to the 30 yard line at least and the pats would have been able to run the clock down to maybe 40 seconds.

Kudos to @captain stone for questioning the OL and DT run depth before the season started. He was ridiculed but was spot on. The biggest issues with this team.

I said from the start that the Pats wouldn't blitz Brady more than a half dozen times or so and nor should they. Brady eats apart the blitz. You don't get to him and he does a lot of damage. If you do, then you can rattle him. But the odds of this team getting to Brady consistently on blitzing is not a great gamble.

The Pats did the right thing sending 8 and even occasionally nine defenders into coverage and try to generate pressure with a four man rush. That is how you beat Brady.

I've seen people here float this idea.... when brown comes back.... Brown LT, Wynn LG, Onwenu RT. Brown and Onwenu have been successful at those positions in the past and Wynn (who has been struggling at LT) was said to have the flexibility to play G when he was drafted.

Big guys on the outside so they don't get overpowered and Wynn gets help on the inside. On paper, it looks like a possible solution.

Brown cannot be relied on. He was fantastic in 2018 when Dante was his baby sitter each and every day. Before and after that season he’s been lousy.

I don’t. I think it was very similar to the Miami game. They allowed almost 400 yds of offense. With 3 drops that account for at least 50 yds. I don’t call that masterful. I don’t think Brady was really confused by anything. He was inaccurate though missed multiple open receiver. In my opinion, the game being close has more to do about the Bucs offense that the pats defense.

last week the Bucs D allowed 407 yds to Stafford and every one was saying how bad they were and today the pats allowed 380 and we call it masterful. The difference, the Rams receivers didn’t drop TDs.

The D was good but not exceptional. In my opinion calling the gameplan masterful is an overreaction.

Disagree completely, the point of the defense was to limit points and chew up time, and they achieved both, as a result the Patriots were in the game until the final minute. The Patriots were never going to be able to control the clock with the run game so making TB take what they were giving, and they shut down the long ball, it was as good a game plan as we could have hoped for, yards don’t matter, points do.

There was over a minute left and they had 2 timeouts! WTF are some of you homers on? You think because of last night this team would win a rematch in the SB? Are you insane? They were completely depleted and we lost at home in the rain. We had the ball last and a PI got us to midfield and still couldn't get the FG. Then we didn't even go for it on 4 & 3 and tried a kick that was out of our guy's range even though if we make it we'd almost certainly still lose. What are some of you on?
Tampa homer says what now?

huge dissapointed in his play so far anyway. Did not contribute at all did he
