OLine's 2-4 Record Crappiness Stabilized, 7 wins in a row now

He threw the ball 50 times and they could only find 5 plays where he was under pressure?

It's hilarious and yet pathetic how you keep acting as if the OLine is not a problem. sorry that your grandson is doing a terrible job calling offensive plays

Upon further review, the Oline issues are 50/50. It's partly on Mac too. Evan Lazar has a great breakdown, Mac isn't staying inside the pocket all the time. He's dropping too far back, or stepping up to high into the pocket and creating pressure on himself in some instances. So part of this is going to be Mac learning better pocket awareness. Once that happens, he'll be in a better position to see the open receivers down the field.

Seems like a reasonable take.

If Durant or Herron start the game again, at what point should the OLine coach be fired

Lazar's article - OLine problem the major factor, with clips.

Good stuff, thanks.

I kept wondering why he was dropping SO FAR back...seemed like seven steps. That's got to slow down his progression and make speed rushers salivate.

This is why some people here have the wrong conclusion. They think all the spread shotgun helps Mac. It does not. Speed rushers LOVE knowing it's pass only and don't even worry about run assignments. It makes it way easier for a defense to go full tilt pass rush when they see the Pats in 3WR spread shotgun. Look at how fast they get to Mac, basically as fast as one can sprint as if there's zero OLine protection at all.

From 2011 ... I actually admire this type of crazy. @DropKickFlutie who would you want to replace Josh? Top 3 candidates?

Wrong. What this means is what I suspected for years, which is that those terrible drafts from 2005-2008 were because Josh McDaniels was destroying the draft room, as efficiently as we saw him destroy the Denver Broncos roster in two seasons. King's article says Belichick wasn't listening to his draft people but McDaniels' kid brother, or McDaniels himself who worked out many of the busts we took. I also remember an article (anyone else remember this one) about McDaniels and how he moved up in the Patriots organization, starting early on by putting together spreadsheets analyzing cornerbacks. Apparently Belichick was impressed and gave him increasing responsibility in part because of that analysis on defensive backs. I wouldn't be surprised if our horrible drafting of D-backs is also related to McDaniels.

Sure any rookie needs to learn, but I've noticed a couple new usernames who seem hell bent on downplaying OLine issues.

.

They seem to struggle more than most teams in obvious passing situations.

Obvious passing situation being perhaps something like 11 personnel spread shotgun.... I feel like teams have a decade of data now, down to yard-line and down and distance especially with big-data analytics that has figured out exactly what the Pats are doing here.

That's the same thing Mahomes gets criticized of doing except he's got wheels.

Mahomes was killed by a lot of scouts for his footwork/base - overall mechanics, pocket discipline, anticipatory pass to short/intermediate levels and decision making but hit the ground running like no one that's ever played the game.

Guys like Zach Wilson and Spencer Rattler emulate him so much it's all over their games.

Russell Wilson & Murray do it to. It's something that's so easy to get into but so hard to break.

Is this supposed to be a surprise? Didn't Bill know their abilities or limitations before he gave away the farm to sign these dudes? JFC

It's frustrating bc both have been good to good enough in the past. Henry would never be confused with Gronk but he's better than decent. Same with Smith. Both strived in different areas but this might be the worst stretch of blocking by both of them
