Bolden. That's a no brainer.
He didn't ignore it. He gave Manboobs the middle finger after the Jets violated the rule with 2 cameras. Teams can't use 2. A normal commissioner would have punished both based on the knowledge they had a falling out and fined each and moved on similar the both the Yankees and Red Sox getting a punishment each for the shenanigans in 2017.IMO, it was ignoring Goodell's Spygate memo.....
I didn't say he sucked. I think he's in line with Ted Thompson, John Schneider, 1 year dynasty type GMs who won a ring in the last 15 years. He was good.I was responding to the poster who said Ozzie sucked. He didn't suck.
My post has nothing to do with BB
IMO, it was ignoring Goodell's Spygate memo.....
Again, he was. Kokinos was Assistant Dir Pro Personnel and reported to him.
Ozzie called the shots on the draft. Ozzie told Art Modell to fire him if he was not going to let him draft Ogden.
Ah so Ozzie is penalized for drafting HoF players and not replenishing the roster of HoF players? Really?
Good god.
I never stated where I rank Ozzie compared to Bill.I didn't say he sucked. I think he's in line with Ted Thompson, John Schneider, 1 year dynasty type GMs who won a ring in the last 15 years. He was good.
Far cry from one person calling Ozzie the GOAT and you putting Ozzie in the same stratosphere as BB. That's ridiculous.
...and Ozzie named him Dir of Pro Personnel shortly thereafter."On November 22, 2002, Newsome was named the first general manager of the Ravens, making him the first African-American to occupy that position in the NFL."
WHat a world we live in where a GM who drafted and developed Brady, gave him all the answers to the test so to speak, who also gave guidance to Ozzie Newsome, somehow make Ozzie Newsome anywhere near Belichick's level, is beyond me.Who do you think Newsome learned from while making the transition from player to GM?
Great....and Ozzie named him Dir of Pro Personnel shortly thereafter.
Newsome doesn't play or coach the games. He only can put the best talent on the field. And he consistently does.
Belichick the head coach bails out Belichick the GM quite a bit.
He was named VP of Player Personnel in 1996.Great.
I just think it's funny BB and Kokinis got the Ravens the extra pick in 1996 (Ray Lewis) and Ozzie Newsome wasn't named GM until 2002. Newsome had very little to do with the Ravens first SB situation. Get it?
I never stated where I rank Ozzie compared to Bill.
Correct. VP isn't the GM.He was named VP of Player Personnel in 1996.
Ravens
Ozzie Newsome's legacy is unlike any the game of football has produced. Simply put, "The Wizard" will forever remain in a class of his own. Flourishing at every point of his football career, Newsome has not just followed a successful path, he has blazedwww.baltimoreravens.com
He picked the players. Jonathan Ogden is an example. The article I linked states this.
He was then promoted to GM in 2002.
Please feel free to post links to support your argument.
That makes no sense. You don't form dynasties with bad players. What's next, BB bailed himself out with the Butler INT?
Right, but you're certainly forcibly making an argument that has little merit. 6 rings is better than 1. I don't know much clearer than that can be. I am comparing their resumes as GMs. Apples to apples. Also, Modell was the GM for the 1st SB ring as he was in Cleveland calling all the shots. We all know the issues BB had with that, too. I believe Ernie Accorsi was the veteran guy in Cleveland who worked under Modell. But, cheap Modell held those purse strings and called the shots.
And, BB has never had 6-10 type seasons either like Ozzie had in the 2000s. Nor did he miss the playoffs 3 years in a row.
And then, there's this:
"Since winning Super Bowl XLVII at the end of the 2012 season, the Ravens have a 40-40 record in the regular season."
There's a reason why Ozzie was "re-assigned" in house. He sucked with money management and didn't take advantage of that 2011 Rookei Cap like BB did, and he screwed himself as BB was forming his 2nd dynasty. He coasted with Lewis and Reed (what GM wouldn't), and only yielded that 2011 title.
These are just the facts. IMO, he's in the top 10, but near the back end. People mock BB's WR picks, but Ozzie was way worse. And, BB doesn't really draft WRs high anyway.
Ozzie started to lose his way badly in 2010 in the draft. Kindle fell down the stairs and BB bamboozled him using the 2009 trade out of the 1st rd, using it to trade up for Gronk. I mean, these are epic moves.
You are arguing just to argue now.Correct. VP isn't the GM.
Who wouldn't have picked Ogden? WHy does Ozzie say that BB taught him everything he knows? Newsome was a recently retired guy learning his way in 1996. He wasn't the GM. Yes, he was promoted with full power in 2002 which I said earlier. He wasn't the guy solely responsible for that 1st ring in 2000.
They owe each otherHow dare you post facts, reality and accurate history with context!
Lots of revisionist history regarding propping up Brady and strangely bashing the guy who drafted him, groomed him and gave him all the answers to the test across the table from him, as the greatest defensive mind the NFL has ever seen. It's amusing to me some people think BB had no influence on Brady's career.
Brady owes BB his career and millions as much as Dion Lewis, Rob Ninkovich, Edelman, Butler, Stephen Neal, or any other late rd or cast off player BB got the most out of in the last 20 years.
If the team was able to sign TB, and then buy all the free agents that they did this spring, then i would say not signing brady was the biggest mistake. But Brady would have to understand that the team was going to suck in 2020. But i don't know if that would have been possible.biggest mistakes?
1. No Brainer - Not extending Brady... not sure if i posted it here, but i was on the record in 2018 saying at least a 4 year 100 million dollar extension, two option years to lower the cap hit.
2. After watching Brady tear it up with Moss, not going after a high caliber #1 wr.
3. Letting the cupboard run bare in 2019.
4. This is a twofer - Duane Starks & Monty Beisel... 'nuff said
5. Malcolm Butler / LI ... could have been, should have been 3 in a row. Even if he sat him for half the game, I think he would have sparked a flagging D by entering the game...
Not sure if this fits the bill, but i always have wondered if there was some kind of adjustment to be made in 42 that was missed... Having not rewatched that game, i'm hard pressed to remember much detail...
