It's easy, and only takes a few moments.Yes, it's a different game, which is why Herbert WASN'T better than Warner.People really need to stop making comparisons to anything in 2001 regarding QB performance. Kurt Warner was MVP and the best in the game that year with 36 TDs and 22 INTs. Justin Herbert as a rookie was better than that just last year. It was a different game in 2001.

Yea, Patriots aren't the type of team that are satisfied with "good" losses. That's more of a Dallas thing. As straham told jimmy Johnson, there are no moral victories.
I’m sick to my stomach
1: The Dolphins are a playoff contender. If Tua plays well they'll be in the mix right up to the end. We played even with a team that shoud have played us even, they just happened to get 1 more point than we did.
2: Mac10 looked GOOD. Like really good. Like making poised throws that moved the offense down the field and being calm and level headed and making good decisions and making accurate throws on timing plays. To the point that with the issues shown in the rushing attack we might want to move up the timetable for when we start handing Mac most of the offensive burden because it looks like he can handle it.
This is going to sound sacrilegious, but Mac right now looks better than Brady did early in 2001 and he had the team in position to win the game before Harris coughed up the ball. He came within spitting distance of completing a TB12 style comeback and it was someone else's mistake that stopped it from happening. I'm all in on Mac10 at this point.
3: Belichick never places a ton of stock in the first couple games. He has a tendency to trade early wins for information, and then make it up in the second half. He will take risks in week 1 he'd never take in week 13. We got a lot of information tonight that Bill will use to coach the team up. We learned a lot about what this team is rather than what we thought it was, and not all of it was bad
The bad news is, NOTHING was as good as it could have been tonight.
The good news is, nothing was as good as it COULD have been tonight.
I'm sure he's thrilled with those numbers. What is he, the next ARodgers?Mac looked really good. I was not expecting him to throw for 40 passing attempts. 29/39 281 yards 1 TD 74.4% completions. He is a rookie starting his first game. Incredible.
Mac is the baby GOAT. He now holds three mini-GOAT records:1: The Dolphins are a playoff contender. If Tua plays well they'll be in the mix right up to the end. We played even with a team that shoud have played us even, they just happened to get 1 more point than we did.

That's nice. I'm sure he'll stamp those records on a piece of toilet paper before he wipes his ass. LmaoMac is the baby GOAT. He now holds three mini-GOAT records:
- Highest NCAA single season completion %
- Highest NCAA single season QBR
- Highest NFL rookie QB debut completion % (30 passes to qualify)
Division games are always important no matter where they're played. This is actually a tough loss. We typically don’t play well in Miami and now that game will likely be very important. This isn’t the AFC Least anymore. Need to win at home against the Phins and Bills to contend for the division.

I agree. His first game, against a defense that's probably gonna grade out in the top half at the end of the year, and the kid played like a veteran. VERY impressed.Mac looked really good. I was not expecting him to throw for 40 passing attempts. 29/39 281 yards 1 TD 74.4% completions. He is a rookie starting his first game. Incredible.

I don't really care about the loss as much. We're going to be in the middle of the scrum for the division for the duration of the season regardless of how week 1 ended. The days of sure wins in the division are long gone.Yea, Patriots aren't the type of team that are satisfied with "good" losses. That's more of a Dallas thing.
How is that illogical? It's not about taking a loss, it's about experimenting with various personnel groups to figure out who you can count on down the road. If that leads to an early loss, but you have a better grasp of what your roster can and can't do down the stretch, that's probably a good tradeoff because you're making better informed decisions for the rest of the season.Think about how illogical this is.
Taking a loss so that, later in the season when you play again, you may have a small advantage which might help you avoid taking a loss.
2004.....This team absolutely needs Gilmore. Elite CB1's do not grow on trees. Patriots never did anything ending in a ring without an elite CB1 on the roster.
Do you now get extra points for winning later in the season? What does leverage value of wins even mean?Later in the season when the leverage value of wins is that much greater, no it wouldn't be. But early season is made for that kind of thing.
I guarantee you that less than 4 of the teams that won tonight are in the playoffs in January.
Just keep all of this to yourself.I don't really care about the loss as much. We're going to be in the middle of the scrum for the division for the duration of the season regardless of how week 1 ended. The days of sure wins in the division are long gone.
If we wind up missing the playoffs but Jones looks like a longterm franchise QB I for one would be prepared to declare this season a success. And this game put us a HECK of a lot closer to being there.
