If any HC can handle a "controversy" such as a former MVP(-caliber) QB being relegated to backup duties, it's Bill... So I'm not ready to buy that as the reason for his release... And I'd still keep Cam over Hoyer anyway, though I wish we had somebody here better than both.

To be the Patriot QB, you have to be able to throw the ball. Jones can, Cam cannot. End of story.

I liked your post but to be honest I don't even think that's the biggest issue. At times Cam showed he could throw the intermediary stuff- although I'll admit he was inconsistent. But the key thing Cam could not do that is a must have in this offense is to read the defense quickly and make quick decisions.
