Mac "not really" surprised to win the starting job

Although Cam was terrible, it is slightly disrespectful that he thinks this given Cam has been in the league a while and had some success. But then again, Jimmy G had said recently he thought he was better than Tom Brady during his time with the Pats.

Nothing disrespectful about it in the slightest. It is a competition. Best man win. If Jones does not think he is the best, why is he competing?

Mac's gf knows the playbook better than cam

Dang, doing walk-throughs with her, I would focus on the tight end.

:rimshot:

I am here all week. Try the veal.

Yea he coulda said that but he didnt
No, he couldn't have said that cuz nobody would ever say that. All he did was give the vanilla "I was preparing to be the starter" line that's been a staple from every athlete that has ever come off the bench in any sport.

The article is just a trollbait title from bspn.

Pick 199 Tom Brady thought he was better than Drew Bledsoe. Last I checked he wasn't wrong. 2018 might as well be 1918. Cam was done and Mac was the better QB. If he didn't think he could win the job he shouldn't have come to camp. He did and he did.

I wouldn’t be shocked either. He knew the playbook better and he is a more accurate passer than Cam. Why shouldn’t he start?

After watching Cam practice and throw he shouldn't have been shocked.

There's a whole chit ton of guys in the league that think they are or were better than Tom Brady.

Taking a page from Bradys rookie season when he told Bob Kraft that drafting him was the best move the Patriots ever made.

Big talk is impressive, but show everyone why youre so great from your play on the field. Then we see why you were never in doubt to start this season.

I;m not so sure hes not fibbing a little. I think it was Jalen mills, Bourne who said that the day after cam was cut mac wasn't quite the same. He wasn't as relaxed as he was before, and his throws weren't as accurate, that he seemed to be felling the pressure of being named the starter.
I remember also reading most of what you say, except the whole bit about him being nervous and inaccurate with his throws. I think Bourne also said that he was farther along then people know. Could be wrong though, can’t find it either.

If you read the actual quote and you think it's big talk instead of the most normal canned response he could have said, I give up on the world.

What else is he gonna say? "Yeah it blindsided me completely out of left field, so I kinda have to cram playbook sessions with my girl in our yard now, hope it works out lol"
+1 +1 +1

This is one of those "what else can he say?" type of questions.

"Mac were you surprised to be named the starter?"
"Hell yes! Cam Newton is so much better of a quarterback!!"

It was that it had sunk in the he was the starter and felt the pressure of being the starter. That in the first practice after winning the job he wasn't as loose as he had been and his throws were a little off. My point was that while he said he wasn't surprised he won the job, to me it seems that he was,, thats all no big deal. I'm sure he bounced back just like he has all through training camp.
