Cam really loves him some Cam.

All joking aside, I really like Cam as a person, I hope he has a great year so he can get himself a good contract next year somewhere else. Also him having a great year helps the Pats, and helps by giving Mac some time.
Why does everyone have to add this disclaimer? It’s so out of whack when talking about professional sports players.

This what what I call the Cam Dichotomy: The guy is, hands-down, the most demonstrably enthusiastic player I've ever seen in a Patriots uniform. At the in-stadium practice last week he chest-bumped every teammate coming onto the field; he's always dancing, gesturing, high-fiving guys, etc., etc. Same sort of thing last night -- he seizes the spotlight as de facto "master of ceremonies" and team leader. But then he gets behind center and his clunky style of play is embarrassingly anticlimactic. If his on-field performance matched his off-field charisma, everyone would be all-in for Cam. But he doesn't seem capable and that makes his situation kind of sad.

I should’ve added a disclaimer to the disclaimer. I didn’t think I’d like Cam. Always seemed like a selfish, singular athlete, but during his year and a half as a Patriot, I’ve grown to like him, not as a passer, but as a person. Seems very thoughtful when answering questions, cares about his teammates, and they seem to love him. There, hope this makes sense. Was never a Cam fan, probably because I only saw the headlines and the surface level of Cam. Now that I’ve seen more, I like him.

Thought I'd pass along an observation from attending last night: About 65 minutes before kickoff, Mac was on the field not yet in uniform working closely with two coaches, throwing 40-50-yard bombs to corners of the end zone -- one coach alongside Mac, the other playing end zone receiver. The long end zone pass to Wilkerson during the game (which went right through his hands) made me think the long ball is something they want Jones working on.

In college Mac was a phenomenal long range thrower. His metrics and stats were absurdly good. But I think people attributed it to his college WRs. Last night those balls barely missed Wilkerson and Gunner. If those balls last night had been thrown to say Agholor, Meyers, or Smith, Mac might have had 2 TDs last night easily.

so...2-15?....maybe 4 or 5 wins? cut Jones and try the draft next year when they have a top 3 pick? share your wisdom with us lowly sub-Jete fans....

6 - 7 losses.

Maybe the playoffs, but this is not a Super Bowl team. The WRs are subpar to mediocre. None strike fear in a Secondary. But, like every pre season, even when Brady was around, this group from all reports is looking sharp so you better watch out. We heard all about Meyers last pre season and he never caught the first TD. There is always one dark horse WR who emerged out of nowhere and is purported to be a dynamo. The guy is usually collecting unemployment in October.

The saving grace for this team is the running backs including Cam. Cam is a top 3 rushing QB in this league. 12 TDs last season and he could have easily had more. The Yahoos want to run Cam out of town and let the Mac dynasty begin. When Mac is looking at Meyers and Bourne and Harry instead of Devonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle the 5hit is going to hit the fan.

I'm not running Cam out of town. Mac is.

This team is a contender albeit it'll depend on health and how much they come together over the second half of the season. But I like what I see so far.

But not to be excited about this team right now is just downing the Debbie downers.

Lol, have you watched any film on Mac? He helped those receivers out a lot. The little things he did created space for the receivers and he thre such a pretty ball all the had to do was hold their hands out and it hit them right in the gloves. Stop talking about things you don't understand

Hard not to be more excited for this team than last year's. Definitely wish we could see Mac start his rookie year, but i get it. We'll labor with Cam's arm, but hopefully Mac gets the mantle next year. Lots of camp/preseason to go, but good stuff so far.

After watching @FlyboyPatsFan 's TC videos and the first preseason game I think Mac is starting the season. The kid is already making too many good decisions as apposed to Cam. To me it's a no brainer so far. We'll see how the next few weeks go but if the decision was made today it should be for Mac.

What I saw from Mac compared to cam last night was Mac calling out the Mike, making line adjustments, making audibles, great decision making, pretty accurate, and by the way...Mac's average release last night was 2.53 seconds.

The amazing thing is not arm strength or accuracy, although those are there. It his demeanor, composure, the look like “I’ve got this”. In a rookie in his first game. Versus a decade long veteran that still looks lost at times. This was all apparent at Bama. I still am flabbergasted the whole damn league knew Belichick was going to take this guy at #15 and just merrily watched it happen. Well, they are now going to pay - bigly!

It was reported that Wynn snd brown started at offensive tackle for the patriots and then cajuste and Cunningham were the second team offensive tackles. Herron played in the fourth quarter.

Are they reporting this accurately? Was Cunningham playing left tackle before Herron?

Medicore to subpar - That would describe the Pats WR's in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2010 - 2011 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 2018, 2020. -

No Mac isn't looking at Smith or Waddle, but Agular had as much success on long throws as anyone in the league last season. Bourne was VERY highly thought of with the Niners, and Myers Harry and Gunner look very much likle the bulk of the WR's who played during the most successful 20 year run in NFL history.

I find it hard to believe that the supposed smartest fan base in the league still believes that WR's win Superbowls when for so many years they had a ringside seat of 6 of them where they DIDN'T
That being said, I think that Cam looked improved to me. and with that improvement and the rest of the overall talent on this team, they can win 10 or 11 games with Cam as the QB.

I LIKED what I have seen so far from Jones. In fact the 2 passes that impressed me the most were his down field strikes to Wilkerson and Gunner. I wish they had run some deep incuts and or seam routes for him. The pass that pissed me off was the 3rd and 7 that he threw a 4 yd in cut to a covered man who had NO chance to get a first down. That throw made no sense.

I thought he had great presence at the LOS but I didn't think he was particularly accurate with his receivers having to make good catches on a few balls that weren't exactly on target

It's mostly just a way for people to try constructing a preemptive defense of their take. It avoids the whole "HATER!"/"RACIST!" angle which might otherwise be taken by Cam defenders. In reality, there's probably not one person in a thousand who actually gives a rat's ass about Cam as a person, or has thought enough about the subject to have a real opinion about Cam as a person one way or another.

That’s exactly what I suspect, tbh. No one here ever says this about other guys.

The second team OL was Herron, Redmond, Ferentz, Martin, and Cajuste. Cunningham then rotated in at RT with the rest of the second team.

Team 1 (21 snaps):
Wynn, Onwenu, Ferentz, Mason, Brown

Team 2 (29 snaps):
Herron, Redmond, Ferentz, Martin, Cajuste/Cunningham in some kind of rotation

Team 2.5 (6 snaps):
Herron, Redmond, Martin, Sherman, Cajuste and/or Cunningham (I’m not sure)

Team 3 (3 snaps):
Hawkins, Redmond, Martin, Sherman, Prince
