This stuff perplexes me.
'Cam will bring us to the promised land'
instead of: 'Cam struggled last season and may not be consistently good moving forward'
we get: 'Cam is bad and has no chance of being successful here'
I tend to think Mac is the better option to run the Patriots offense and will start most (if not all) of the season, but if Cam ends up playing for whatever reason, I'm gonna root for him and be optimistic enough to hope he plays well (despite his big time struggles last season).
Cam was bad, and the reasons outlined by the posters here (footwork, timing, accuracy, ability/willingness to identify the blitz, dictate OL assignments, making quick/decisive decisions throwing the ball, etc) are totally fair, explain his struggles last season and provides evidence for why we should be grounded in our expectations for Cam this season. In spite of that, though, I will root like hell for the guy anytime he's in a Patriots' uniform.
