All those attacking Harry saying it’s only training camp. This is the FIRST training camp that he’s stayed healthy and dominated. The talent was always there. Coming into that draft, he was always rated as a 1st round pick, and at worst rated the 3rd best receiver in the draft, I even saw one ranking where he was rated as the top receiver.

Maybe, just maybe, he’s finally living up to that hype. Maybe he finally gets what it takes. Anger, no matter how misguided, is sometimes a great motivator. I remember playing Pop Warner ball, I was a DE/LB, my coach told me I was going to be 2nd string. I had never been 2nd string. That next practice, I tore it up, played the best football of my life, I was killing guys. Parents were coming up to me telling me how good I was playing. At the end of practice, my coach said, “you’re 1st string”. It was all due to anger. It really motivated me. Now I was angry at everyone except me, I was the one to blame.

Now imagine being an NFL 1st round pick. And being so angry you ask for a trade. Harry has nobody to blame but himself for his poor play. Seems like he’s finally motivated to be good. Let’s see if his good practices translates to good games.
You've got to learn that sucking on the team's teat is not analysis.

The Harry pick is tough. I thought Deebo was the perfect match for us. My WR2. Somewhat limited but I knew he'd succeed in some fashion. WR or ST, I just had a feeling. One of many feelings & tingles over many prospects, I had Butler as WR1. Not a first on any, too many questions marks about DK. Liked Brown but didn't love him, my WR4. Thought it was a second round class and so did the league by in large. 2 taken in the 1st, 7 in 2nd.

I'm on record of saying I wouldn't have selected Harry but he would have went top 40-45 no matter what. SF is basically on record saying Harry was their WR1 & Deebo WR2. They were going to take one of them & got lucky. Would they have tried to use him in the same role?

Anyway the most disappointing aspect of the pick is the lack of attitude, physicality and presence on the field. Attitude - asking for a trade?? After what he's put on the field? You don't get the "IG" attitude on the field. I don't care about yards from Harry. I care about 3rd down, sidelines, 15+ rec, TD, blocking & being the alpha WR that sets the tone for the other players.

That's really bothers me about him as player. Even though I wouldn't have taken him (round one) I liked the pick in different ways. It was out of the norm for us in a lot of ways. West Coast, highly touted WR round one. Not sure if many understand the hype Harry around him after his FO/SO years. Followed it up with a 1K 9TD JR year. Checked a lot of boxes with different crowds (film, analytics), had a good combine. Just didn't work out. I would have loved to see how he interviewed bc supposedly that was key for him.

Didn't work out but we probably should have doubled dip that year. Would have hurt a lot less with Brown, Deebo, DK, Dionte, Hardman, Slayton, Terry in the 2nd or 3rd instead of reaching for Williams a round or two early. Renfrow went in the 5th later in the draft. As smart as a player you'll ever find and really good r/r. He would have been a perfect Jules understudy.

The final chapter in Harry’s Patriots career hasn’t been finished yet.

One issue he's had is seperation...but being a 50/50 guy it's not a disaster but it would be helpful if he got a little quicker and agile...which I think he has in the off-season. He's going to need that if he wants to be successful against average DB's. He also can't quit running his route while the play is still going. Nothing will get him yanked faster then that. I still have hope.

I'm still rooting for him, 100%, but I'm also realistic as to what has occurred. Nothing good. Forget about the stats, you expect leaders from the 1st round. Meyers didn't have it easy at all and he's doing well establishing himself as an UDFA. Asking for a trade really rubbed me the wrong way after everything we've seen and heard. No bueno if he can't establish himself in a WR room like last year or even this year. Again I'm still pulling for him, just frustrated with what we've seen.

It was a double edged sword. I was happy they picked a WR, just wasn’t happy it was Harry. Wanted Metcalf. Then was shocked Metcalf lasted all the way to pick 64. Which was OUR pick. We used that to trade up for SlowJuan Williams, which I KNEW was a mistake the second it happened. I wanted to take AT LEAST 1 WR, possibly 2, and at least 1 TE. The 2 second round picks we traded wound up being Mecole Hardman and DK Metcalf. Can you imagine our offense with added speed those two guys possess, let alone the return ability of Hardman. Brady probably would’ve still been here. We took Chase Winovich in the 3rd round instead of TE Dawson Knox. Just wondering what our offense would’ve been like with Metcalf, Hardman and Knox back in 2019 & 2020. This is what happens when you are bad at drafting.

I will admit, I saw improvements in the 2020 and 2021 drafts, but we are still ignoring explosive offensive weapons when they are available.

News flash: Hardman has flashed off and on but has largely been a disappointment. Knox has done virtually nothing so far, which is why the Bills were in the market for a TE in free agency, but didn’t have the cap space. Wino has his limitations, which have been discussed here, but has been a more impactful NFL player so far.

Metcalf has proven a lot of people wrong, including Seattle, who passed on him TWICE before eventually picking him. Based upon his limited route tree in college and lack of change of direction abilities, he was a poor fit for the Pats offense. He has obviously thrived with a perfect offense and QB for his strengths but we have no idea whether he would have been as effective for the Pats (better than Harry, of course, but maybe not All Pro level).

The Williams pick is the killer so far. A 3rd/4th round prospect we took top 45. While Terry, Brown, DK were available.

I'll take Wino if he sticks around here long term. I like his value in the 3rd, super cheap for a good rusher.

Dugger, Uche, Mac, Barmore - top 60 prospects, big-time picks.

Funny how every single writer has seen something much different.

Well, unlike them, I'm not after clicks and neither do I have a twitter base of followers to to pump up. I just call it the way I see it.

The other thing is that the press tent is all the way up the hill from the endzone on the other side of the field. Me, I'm in the bleachers, right on the 50 yard line (45 if you want to be exact) and I have a great view of the action so I see a lot more than they do. And yesterday was pads and players were being tackled.

I noticed plenty of things yesterday, but perhaps the biggest takeaway is how often the defense was in the backfield. This is a very disruptive front line we have. That's not something that's easily noticed because QB's can't be sacked so the linemen and LB'ers that were getting into the backfield were pulling up once they beat their man.

And I loved that during the last phase of the 11 on 11's at the end of practice where they were practicing the two minute drill for a FG, Mac Jones got his squad within FG range, but attempted to call a hard count to get the D to jump for a first down (they didn't). But to me it showed that he wasn't satisifed with a FG, even though that was the point of the drill. He was trying to go for more, and got an earful from BB.
