Good depth, but high quality? I think that's a stretch. That's a exploitable downgrade in the middle of the line.
Was saying he's high quality for a backup. If he was a straight-up high quality starting center he would've found a bigger pay day and wouldn't be the NE backup.

Edit: Ross responded while I was maneuvering my thumb on a small screen.

I think he has it right, high quality is modifying backup. It's almost always a downgrade when a backup is inserted, in this case it's a manageable downgrade if the rest of the line stays healthy.

Outside of QB Carl Davis is rising up for players to watch. He's undefeated in 1v1 pass rush drills & was the pats highest graded DT last year on PFF in the limited snaps he played. Alan Branch 2.0 possibility.

If Davis and Godcheaux can solidify the middle of the line then that will go a long way towards this defense being REAL "Bogeymen". Hopefully, Davis has solved his concussion issues and can play a full season. It's going to be real interesting to see what this defense looks like when they face the Bucs and afterwards..

He also may want to review Brady’s stat line in the SB 53 against the Rams. Anemic performance….hint: The number of passing TDs starts with a Z and ends with an ero. That game was won by the defense that BB put together carrying out the game plan that BB put together to near perfection, after the wise decision by Bill and Josh to commit to the run game late in the season and into the playoffs.
You can try and define Brady's worth in the game with no passing TDs to knock him down all you want. That one game simply does not define him......nor does it define Belichick. Lot of points given up in the palyoffs. You can't narrow it down like that. Look at the body of work throughout the playoffs that year.

Love me some Karras. I think he’ll prove more important than some might expect. Solid, vet, insurance/spot starter. Much to like in a “6th OL”.
Hell he was a starter on a team that won 10 games,. While I think we have better starters than Karras, he's never going to embarrass himself when he has to get in there at any of the 3 interior OL positions.

Davis is a huge man, but has never worked out and bounced around. He is 29 now so only has a few years left. Not sure why he never took off. I heard he had a bunch of concussions but that is not mentioned on Wiki. Would be great as a specialist - don't think he is a great pass rusher, pretty much a run stuffer in his career. But we could use a top end large run stuffer.

Uncle Phil's twin?

Did I say he misses a lot of games? I said he’s always dinged up.
Every player in the league is always dinged up especially TEs. Seems like you are just trying to be negative.

You also have guy, adams, cowart, barmore competing for that role as well. That position will be fine.

I kept hoping for Rivers so many years. Glimpses in camp, etc…. I was burned. I can’t get on this Harry train quite yet.

I don't know. It seems to me that TB was at his core that game. Win first, follow the game plan like you wrote it, be efficient, convert third downs.

The Ram's D was a tough matchup for the receivers. But, like many big games, TB/Gronk/Julian did what had to be done when it had to be done. Add to that a solid rushing attack, and a very stout D, and the Pats got another.

3rd down conversions? Want to try again?

The Pats won that game with a dominant defensive performance and a running attack that put up a 32/154/4.8 line. Brady was great when they needed him the most in the KC game but crediting him for the SB win is fantasy land territory.

Not at all, I’m positive I’m not the only one around here who feels like he has a habit of missing practices or leaving early cause of an injury.

If Mac is starting and that signals the season is over, do you really think it would be beneficial for his development to surround with lesser quality leaders/players on and off the field? I’ve seen this type of post several times and can’t tell if it’s serious or not.

You can recoup some value from Hightower, Gilmore, McCourty for teams going for it and willing to trade something. I like Mac but all the rookie mistakes and experiences need to happen when he plays. So it'd be a waste of those 3 defensive vets to use their last good year together and then see them all go in a year. For Mac I'd keep the OLine together, to protect the kid. But keeping 3 aging vets if we're not contending doesn't seem to be a good move, shades of keeping McHale / Bird / Chief too long.

That kind of misses the point.

Somewhere around here is a post that shows the "Harry's doing great" stuff from each offseason. It means nothing.
