End of an Era for NBA

You repeatedly wrote epicenter as you hyper ventilated and exaggerated what I wrote. But let's keep this sh-tty thread going since Rick Carlisle is on the Pacers now and there is zero relevant discussion about any sort of streak. And also strong validation from 1 resident that there is no racism in Boston anymore. Good enough for me!! This is awesome. Glad we can agree.

.
Maybe racist incidents in Boston are fewer, but more publicized. That fits with the hysteria over our teams winning so much. They freaked over our coach lighting up a cigar, for goodness' sake.

Bostonians, though their god-given means to express themselves, have an elevated capacity to be @ssholes........throughout the process of being an @sshole, the line can be smeared where a person could be seen as racist when they're actually being the way they are behaving towards anyone.

Boston has also been very 'tribal' ..... the southie / charlestown thing is a great example
Yeah, no racists in Boston. Just misunderstood. That’s some rose-colored glasses.

Youre misreading him.
Hes not saying theres no racists or systemic racism in Boston. That exists everywhere. Definitely exists in Boston.
If you were from Boston you'd dig where he's coming from. I am and I do.
Theres a pct.of Bostonians who just act like asssholes to everybody. A visitor who happened to be black might take that as racism. A black dude from Roxbury probably wouldnt unless there were slurs.
Im white and Irish, grew up in JP,Dorchester and Quincy. I also lived in Roxbury for several years in the mid70's by myself when racial tensions were high.
There were maybe 3 white people in a 5block radius of me. I never had any problems. Had black friends, Puerto Rican friends, white friends. My girlfriend
was a Southie native, still lived there. I also had friends there and hung out there some. This was the old Southie, the Whitey Bulger( one of the biggest scumbags who ever slithered on this earth)Southie. I was straddling
the line between 2 different worlds. I spent time in bars and clubs in Roxbury
and was often the only white guy there.
Don't ever recall being uncomfortable. The point is, Boston is a complicated place. Like anywhere else, only the people who have actually lived and worked there for years are qualified to judge things like the level of racism that exists. Gou cant know that as a tourist or a visitor.

Gotta add one more thing:
I am very proud to be from what I consider the greatest big city in the U.S.
I havent lived there in 30 years but most of my huge family is there and Im well aware of all the positive changes that have occurred there since then.
Ive lived all over the U.S., including San Diego,Denver and the South. If I had to live in a big city anywhere in the U.S., no hesitation, its Boston.
I just dont want to live in a city that big anymore. Traffic, air pollution,traffic- no thanks. But as far as big cities go- its a gem.

But that is true elsewhere as well (and I have lived near Boston, but do not now). Everyone is quick to label people as racists based on a tiny bit of information about others. And people like to look the other way in their own neck of the woods.

I agree. But not me. I never tolerated racism. Never will. Almost came to blows several times when I was young- I wouldnt tolerate the n word and Id get pretty pissed if anyone said it around me.
Didnt always go over well in Southie, but I stuck to my guns and people knew me so theyd not do it out of basic respect. But still, many fistfights were narrowly averted.

Sounds like what is going on today every time BLM or antifa riot….
Seattle WA and Portland OR are sheetholes.

Tards are in control. Losers. They would likely come to your house and protest that youre on stolen land.

Pretty much the same stupid **** as what others are saying about Boston.

You take some media publicized incidents that affect less than 1% of the population and try to apply to the entire population. You must be watching so much Newsmax you think everywhere you look there’s looting and burning books about capitalism.

It sounds like you’re really scared of going to the west coast because of your clear inferiority complex, same as everyone else who cries like this.

I hear Southie one more time ...
Just one more time lol. There used to be a poster here named patsfanfromsouthie.
He was a really good dude. So if youre lurking out there man, Wassssuuuup!!

Does Che have us at #1? Oh well, you're can't please everybody

No. You could always click the link to see. Massachusetts is not top 10. Louisiana is #1, and having visited there a few times, that does not surprise me.

Who is Che? This isn’t some social justice dude complaining about racism...it’s just a data guy trying to actually quantify racism by using social media. It has flaws but beats the alternative of pure anecdotal, confirmation bias driven statements about racism in regions.

That's a great argument. Compare Boston to the deep south. I'm glad we can all agree Boston is totally fine.

Once again, I don’t really care about Boston, other than pointing out its ranking for many in the thread who are interested in knowing. I’ve never lived in Boston. The idea that some cities are more racist than others, and now to measure racism, if it’s possible to do so, is where I’ve turned my focus. It’s interesting to see how people have attempted to gauge racism in a particular region, even if it’s very hard to quantify. How many times do people have to tell you they’re not saying Boston is some wonderful anti-racist haven before you stop bringing it up?

your map marks Vo Dilun as racist...how can Little Rhody be racist when everyone else in the country either thinks it's part of New York or run by the mafia?

It’s strange to see that red there because it’s surrounded by blue. And you’d think it would have a similar culture to surrounding areas. I’m really not sure on that…is there something that stands out about RI? Different demographics, crime stats, economics, etc?

All of those things can be true. Recently I saw it called the City of Rhode Island but really it comes down to being an idiot doesn’t mean you’re racist or vice versa.
