Pedro Martinez throwing Brady batting practice back in 2015

The GOAT QB takes batting practice with the GOAT pitcher. You don't see that often.

Ichiro didn’t strike out like this…

I don’t care if Pedro was “the greatest ever.” No pitcher has ever come close to being as great as him at his peak, and this was during a spiked offensive era.

Look at this ball move.

Dude was such a badass too…after getting HBP by Mitch Williams. Lmfao.

It’s not even fair for a pitcher to have 3 A+ pitches like he did. Greatest changeup ever.

I’ll never forget that ALDS performance against Cleveland when he was hurt and could only throw his curveball. Six innings of no-hit ball.

You could see other teams react to it.

More importantly, how our team responded to, and was lifted by his fiery competitiveness. This was a team that had become so used to folding, rolling over in the face of serious competition for the last few decades. This was the best trade Duquette ever made. It really altered the chemistry and makeup of the team.

I was into baseball back then, but I had barely even heard of Pedro Martinez. My dad told me that they traded for him, and I was "oh, right, that guy who won the Cy Young award...Ramon Martinez's brother." I had no idea how great he was. It would have been a shame if he'd played his career with the Expos or some tiny market team. The Red Sox-Yankess rivalry just enhanced his career even more.

Nothing will compare to the excitement of "Pedro's pitching tonight!" I'm so grateful I got to see Pedro pitch live a few times too...the atmosphere was always so electric with everyone aware they were witnessing history and that his prime wouldn't last that long.

Can't get some of these gifs to go...but the 1999 All Star game has some of the most fooled batters you'll ever see.

I saw him at the airport in Miami, a few years ago. My biggest regret is not going up to him and saying thank you to him for all those high-octane games he gave us.

Maybe by not bothering him, that was the greatest thank you gift you could give

Pedro was so tough because he released every pitch the same way and they all looked the same to the batter. He's one of the greatest pitchers of all time.

Another Sox pitcher who could fool batters was Louis Tiant.

I wonder how great Pedro would have been if Spider Tack was a thing back then

Imagine a 36 inch breaking ball.
