Ramsey Recruting Gilmore to Rams

You're not very good at this - unless you're trolling.

Cutting Harry saves nothing. In fact, it adds to the cap. Cutting Michel, who is almost certainly the number 2 back on the roster) saves a pittance.

You've never made a good point. Keep trying. There are a bunch of guys on the bubble about to be cut or traded and that collective sum of $ can be used to keep Gilmore who would be worth keeping.

Cutting Harry doesn't save cap. You just posited that we cut Harry to pay Gilmore.

Harry might well be cut - everyone knows he's on the bubble here with the additions of Bourne and Agholor (and the two TEs). But your post was objectively wrong-headed. We don't save CAP by cutting Harry. Hell, I could see Harry, Winovich, Bentley, and Cowart all cut or traded away - that's off the top of my head; I'm sure there are many others. Go to Patspicker and whittle it down to 53 and you'll see some familiar names going bye-bye.

Of course, we don't even know who gets injured before any of that has to happen, do we?

You sound like a whiny kid who just likes to throw stones at players who wouldn't let you sniff their jockstraps. If you're going to talk so authoritatively, at least do others the courtesy of knowing wtf you're talking about. So again, CUTTING HARRY COSTS MORE CAP $$$$$.

"What is his salary cap situation? Harry is counting $2.75 million against New England’s salary cap this year entering the third season of his rookie contract, currently the 26th highest cap number on the team. The Patriots would not clear any money by cutting him after June 1 — they would actually lose cap space with his 2022 guarantees then also hitting the books (h/t Miguel Benzan) — but they would create net savings of roughly $500,000 in case of a trade (his fully guaranteed salary of $1.41 million would come off but he would be replaced on the Top-51 list by another player)."

That point clear enough for you yet?

Pats never won a ring without an elite CB1 on the roster. CB1 is one of the few spots you pay and it's worth it. Could extend Gilmore till he retires by using some $ savings by jettisoning Michel and Harry.

.
so was Malcolm Butler unique? 2016, they had Butler and Ryan as their starters.

let him play out his contract and move on.......if he wants to sit, so be it

not sure what the pats would do with the cap $ at this time anyway.

Exactly. I’d be ok if they let him sit. They paid him at the time of the signing like the the best CB on the market.

5 yrs 65 million. 40 million guaranteed and 31 million at signing. Don’t feel sorry for the chap because he is only making 7 million this year. He already received the money to offset the last year when he signed. Volin is a funny guy. His contract averaged 13 million per year.

Not sure if I'm missing something but why is Ramsey's tweet not tampering?.
...
NFL Players. No club, nor any person employed by or otherwise affiliated with a club, is permitted to tamper with a player who is under contract to or whose exclusive negotiating rights are held by another club.
My understanding is that clauses like this exclude players.

If that's true seems like a weird loophole... a player could just say things on behalf of the team.

I mean can the Rams even do a trade like that? Seems like they have had a bit of salary cap issues recently.
no, they cant do that trade. They cant fit him into their current cap and would need to cut/work a bunch of players to even come close. Ramey isn't too bright and thinks he is the GM of a Madden team

It’s okay for a team to approach a player to reduce his salary or outright cut him if his play dips, but a player can’t ask for more money when he’s outplaying his current salary? There’s quite a few guys who have no business making more than him.
Allegedly..

As he should. They are close in age and Slay had no business getting that contract and has been overrated. He also had a terrible year.

Byron Jones contract is straight up laughable and disrespectful to players like Gilmore or even his own teammate in Howard who is also in the conversation as one of the best in the league.

Here’s the list of CB salaries.

Where would you currently pay Gilmore?

Only White and Ramsey are even close to Gilmore. And Gilmore is better than both.
White is younger,so more upside but nobody else on that list should be ahead of him. Hed be an idiot not try to wrangle a few more bucks this year.

If we kept him at something near or below what Marcus Peters was getting, it's worth extending Gilmore till he retires. Gilmore remains an elite CB1 and those don't grow on trees.

Nobody Trades away 1st round picks like Les Snead.

Not sure when they have another first round pick, but I would take a 2024 first
For Gilmore.
