I’ve literally stopped watching pro basketball because of the selfishness and of these players. None more so than Kyrie Irving. These guys want to be their own brand, and yet their brands all so off-putting.

What I loved was how Kyrie was destroyed by Jalen's comments. Instead of the drive-by Kyrie did on such a sensitive and important topic, Jalen gave the topic it's due thought and attention.

Kyrie is such a little *****. You just dropped 40 on the C’s and blew them out at home. He’s so goddamn insecure that he can’t let that speak for itself. He has to stomp on the logo and imply Boston fans are racist. It’s no real surprise that someone threw a water bottle at him.

I so badly want the Celtics to pull out a win tonight, not because I believe we have any hope in hell of winning the series. I just want to see that baby to have to step back into the arena for a Game 6.

Well that was a mercy killing for what was becoming a miserable playoffs to an otherwise miserable season. They need to get another big gun in there to compete. It’s clear the Kyrie injury year was a bit of an illusion and they do need a star.

Kyrie has an inferiority complex because he is a #2 who thinks he is good enough to be a #1. But he isn't.

Don't get me wrong. He is a really talented #2 guy. He was integral in Cleveland winning that championship. But when he came to Boston, we all saw he just wasn't good enough to be the top guy of a championship contender.

Danny Ainge was a perfectly fine GM. The problem is the system. There's only so much you can do in the NBA since it is a players' league, and Boston is most definitely not the players' preferred destination.

The next 10 years of Boston basketball will be no more impressive than the past 10 years. Couple playoff runs, sure, but no serious championship contenders.

it depends if you can attract the talent.........or have the patience to grow your own........nobody wins anything if their top 3 aren't in their late 20's

Ainge has had his position for the better part of 20 years and outside of 08 it can be categorized as “always the bridesmaid, never the bride). It’s been over a decade since they made a Finals and they consistently played the long game while Lebron dictated power in the East and came up short the entire 2010’s. The Lakers tied us in titles during his tenure.

He needed to go. We aren’t the ****ing Pelicans who should just be happy to be deep in the playoffs. It’s the era of super teams and Ainge couldn’t get with it

The Celtics are tied with the most championships with the Lakers. Looks like the Lakers will soon exit this year. I would rather have the Celtic players going forward than the Laker's players. I thought Danny did well in finding talent in late picks. I guess that will be up to Stephens now and who will be the coach?

Ainge did a very good job overall. I think the Kemba Walker signing was what did them in. They had a championship core if they could have added one more superstar, and after years of holding out they signed a guy who was unfortunately entering the downside of his career and battling injuries.

I think that’s a championship team with Anthony Davis, Kawhi Leonard, or maybe even Chris Paul instead of Walker. 3 big free agents all failed to take them to the next level: Kyrie, Hayward, and Walker. I didn’t feel great about any of those signings at the time because of the redundancy on the roster and the lack of true alpha superstardom.

He left them in a good spot though with two young, outstanding players, one of whom might reach MVP discussion level.

I can't wait to hear more details and stories about what the hell has been going on the past year, or even few years. We can pretty easily judge the actual moves being made but I feel there has to be more, including the influence of the players in all of this. This is a players league after all.

Basically this. The Celtics were always a big time player addition away from a real chance at a title and they watched other teams blow their load on the big players while they got guys in the next tier and tried to sell it as responsibly building a sustainable team.

Problem is that the NBA isn’t like that anymore. The teams winning titles now are being built in one or two off seasons. The last time the Celtics won was the year they got the Big Three together.

They have a good core, but they aren’t winning without a big piece
