Taking Christian Barmore was a gamble.

So you guys who rip Bill for this pick.. Who would be your pick, and much would you bet on him having a better career than Barmore?

That's his alleged rep made by some, though he's not NEARLY as good at it as he's being paid to be.

Based on what?

Watching what I can find of Godchaux, he seems to be a very capable interior anchor/run stopper if healthy.

Firstly, I would NOT have traded up to #38...In fact, I would've been looking to trade Down, maybe with Cleveland, who were willing to part with #s 59 & 89...

So staying at #46, I would've been happier with one of: WR Terrence Marshall, OT Sam Cosmi, C/G Creed Humphrey, DE Boogie Basham or DT Alim McNeill. ALL of whom will have better careers than Barmore if he doesn't listen to his leaders and do what he's told when he's told to do it.

Miami's run defense sucked last year like ours did, so we'll see...

...Now if anybody has the inside skinny on Bama players, it would be BB because he can talk to Nick Saban directly...

Then why didn't he give Bill the inside skinny on Cyrus the Virus?

Nobody knew that Cyrus Jones had a life threatening heart condition till years later. Who knows how that affected him in the pros.

A similar heart condition thing happened to Reggie Lewis and nobody blames anybody for not know about it.

The medical condition was undetected until too late.

So it took you 3 days to come to this "shocking" conclusion. This post reminds me of when in the classic Cassablanca. Capt Reneau walks into Ricks and says, "I'm shocked to find out that Gambling is going on in this establishment" and then a waiter comes up to him and hands him his winnings.

Everyone here knew that Barmore was a gamble since the discussion of draft picks was started. He was the best DT in a very weak DT class and was also an area of need for the Pats.

Years ago BB confided to someone that he looked at round 2 as a place to swing for the fences. A place to find a great physical talent who for some reason (injuries character, etc) drops into the 2nd round and you take a chance on him. You sometimes get Gronk and you sometimes get Jordan Richards.j Barmore is a classic BB 2nd round hit or miss.
Jordan Richards ... a great physical talent?? In Munchkinland, maybe

Regardless of his underlying medical condition, the dude was taken over a Full Round too early.

Honestly that has nothing to do with the Barmore pick. On film Barmore has 1st round talents. The only question is character.

As for Cyrus Jones he might have been overdrafted. But we'll never know as the unknown medical condition overrides everything. He's lucky just to be alive. He never had a chance at succeeding at the NFL with a bad heart.

If Barmore plays like a first rounder (the round he was drafted in)...will you still say he was drafted to soon ?

Camera not getting his best side?

I swear Bill is saying something to the effect...

"Barmore...you listening to me? Hey (snaps fingers)....you ok?. Your eyeing the food table aren't you? You would not believe how good the veal is. And the chocolate cake is outstanding".

If Barmore plays like a 1st-rounder this year, then he wasn't drafted that much sooner than he would've gone anyway...Though I'll still believe that Bill could've had that pick for cheaper...
