The "Who Are you Hoping For on Day Two" Thread?

How many other teams were previously caught filming the opposing sideline? Sure, the only thing they did wrong was the location of the camera in Spygate, but there’s still a precedent there. I do agree that I think they got off lighter than I was expecting them to. And most people have already forgotten about this. I’m not sure how anyone can watch this and not come away with the impression that it’s shady as hell...

At least 3 that we know of. NONE of them were punished though. But hey.. Why bother with facts.

BTW, you do notice that the MONITOR that is being filmed, never actually moves.. Anyone stop to think that maybe that's a static monitor that someone filmed while filming the advance scout? But hey, let's believe the lying NFL...

Barmore looked really good in the college bowl final but....all I have heard from some Patriots reporters is that he has a work ethic problem and would not fit into the Pats system. I assume Saban would have given BB a report if need be about his character. If a coach could get him to play as he did in the final then its worth a pick. Would suspect a team will take him in the second round

LOL, now you’re beginning to travel into the realm of conspiracy theory. It was a big set up! I like how you sent me an angry, little PM too. I think I’ll just deal with you here...

So, tell me, what part of “...violated a league policy by filming the field and sideline from the press box” are you struggling with? The team admitted that they violated the rules. They owned it. The debate’s over. You have absolutely no case whatsoever. So, to borrow from your PM, you’re WRONG. Time to move on.

I feel like they need another wideout with speed. Their wideouts won’t scare anyone. I seee bourne and meyers as basically the same players. Harry is a lost cause.

That pick would have been nice.

Look for a Jackson or Gilmore trade to get a 3rd rounder.

We will probably see a Harry trade as well.

Sure. Blame Kraft Productions for their blatant stupidity. The team still has a good amount of picks to play with though. At least they didn’t lose a 1st rounder.

We only have room for about 4 or 5 picks on the roster trade up to get another 2nd or 3rd round pick. Would love to see Barmore and a WR and a LB.

I wouldn't trade Jackson or Gilmore for a 3rd rounder...I'd rather keep both and have one of the best secondary's in the league.....hopefully, we can make it work. We are a better team with both of them on it.

Not that I’ve got any sort of grip on this draft, but Spencer Brown really intrigues me. Perhaps one of old, but very much like a Pats OT.
Hey stealing my thunder. I want a Northern Iowa draft. I want the edge guy also, Elerson Smith

I agree and am not sure I agree at the same time. The outlook did change after last night as it has already been pointed out. The QB room is set, and because JimmyG is not in the QB room, we have cap room and can sign Gilmore for a few more years. If Gilmore is locked up, are we better off with a 3rd for Jackson? Take the 3rd and trade up with a 4th to sign a rookie DB for 4 years? Of course it depends on the pick, but if we hit on the pick it is a non-brainer to trade Jackson IMO.

Yes on Gilmore. Negotiate a 3 year deal with him now, if he'll do it.

For Jackson, I'd rather have him on this one year, fairly cheap deal, playing his heart out for a FA contract next year, and then get the comp pick, in a future draft where we've had the normal time to evaluate players in a full season.

We only get a comp pick if we do not sign an equal FA. We have $40M+ in cap space, the cap might go up, and spender BB is in the house these days, so it is not a sure thing we will get a comp for Jackson signing somewhere else.

Harris will be around in the 5th or 6th round.. He's raw and doesn't have a lot of success on the field..
Maybe so. However, Belichick historically sometimes picks athletic upside outside the FBS over more proven college players with flaws with more success. Collins and Dugger fit this description. After making a safe choice in Round 1, it would be nice to add another second day pick where, with 3 selections, the Pats gamble on an athletic outlier or two over better known choices. Reaching for less athletic players, from better known FBS programs has ended with more disappointments, especially with defensive backs. There are a few players like this available tonight but we should all be superstitious about this by now.. Glass I Dowling, Jordan Richards, Cyrus Jones, Duke Dawson and maybe Joejuan Williams all came from major conferences. None of them seemed that athletic or exciting when selected. Conference and recommendations were weighed too heavily. Speculative opt out players will be a factor too. This is where Belichick's committee might do a better job if somebody truly believes in a prospect's pure athletic talent and size although such players are raw. They should be drafting for depth now but potential in 1-2 years over not ready for play more conventional choices. I will be happy, even if it fails, if the Pats go outside the box on the second day to gamble for one or two of these unicorns or others:

Jacob Harris
Dillon Radunz
Spencer Brown
Quinn Meinerz

If you have 3 second day picks after some trades, you could do worse than gambling on these smaller conference players figuring that you can better mold depth picks like this over some of those flawed major conference picks.

I agree 100% that the Pats are better with them both, however this recent tweet from Gilmore doesn’t seem like the Pats are willing to pay him what he wants.
