The "Who Are you Hoping For on Day Two" Thread?

IIRC Mason, Andrews, Owenu are all signed beyond 22. If we are going to add offensive line help, I'm thinking that it needs to be with one of the 4th round picks. My hope for 46 is at WR (I just threw up in my mouth when I wrote that. ) Edge or speed LB.

I wouldn't be surprised to see us trade down to the end of round 2 or the top of round 3 if our target pick isn't there.

I'm not so sure that Mason and Andrews factor into our tackle situation. No one here is really saying that the OL in general needs help, just the tackle position specifically. If we got another good guard, it could indirectly help the tackle situation by allowing Onwenu to move to RT, but to me the real solution is to take a tackle.

Not the biggest priority in my book though. Would rather see ILB, and I would place CB and WR at the same priority as T.

I agree, but I was replying to a post that said CB and T were needs because they had no good players under contract for 2022. I'm just pointing out LB also fits that criteria.

FWIW, I'm not even sold on our 2021 starting ILB group. The fact that people can look at our roster at that position and think "yup, all set here" is baffling.

Pats play nickle and dime most of the time so its not a position to stress about & you can at least include Dugger and Phillips to the “LBs“.
Bill is LB coach by profession so i wouldn't worry too much about it.
If you completely neglect DL don't expect any LB will look good. Its a solid group behind decent DL if High plays.
They brought 5 IDL in FA..

I actually think they’re either going to go with Barmore or Moehrig with 33. Both are huge needs on the defensive side of the ball. They SHOULD take whoever falls out of Jenkins, Radunz, or Eichenberg at 45 but who knows?

I guess the chances of Jenkins Radunz at 45 aren't that high but they could grab some O-Line starting material there, agree on defensive Picks they need help there everywhere. I would grab Moehrig over Barmore probably but idk

No, Kontra. They weren't. They were in the CINCY Pressbox WITH PERMISSION from Cleveland taking shots of the entire GAME. The whole issue was that Cincy hadn't been notified that they'd be there. And before you start any more s**t, you can get the exact same pictures off the Baltimore 360 replay. Again, NOT the Pats stadium. Cleveland and the league KNEW about it. The Punishment was for NOT notifying CINCY. Which the league and Cleveland should have done.

I don’t give a damn whose stadium it was at and what the Browns did or didn’t do. They were filming the sideline of a team they were playing the following week. You can... not... do... that. That you’re trying to excuse it away tells me that you know you have a weak counter argument here. The cameramen knew they couldn’t do that. That’s why the camera guy’s voice was shaking and he sounded like he was going to **** himself when confronted by security. Bill knew they shouldn’t be doing that either. That’s why he immediately came out and put distance between Patriots football operations and Kraft Productions when he simply could have said “it wasn’t our responsibility to notify the league.” Jesus, they even put out a press release ADMITTING that the crew violated league policy and did so “unknowingly.” So the crew was either stupid (best and most likely case) or they were actually cheating (worst case). In any event, the team owned it. Argument over.

I do like to think Dugger provides good sub LB depth, I just worry the team sees him as an actual full-time safety. Many people on this board certainly do. Every snap he plays at traditional safety is a snap he isn't contributing as a LB. I see Phillips as more of a safety, but I acknowledge he was playing sub LB at times last year and did not look out of place. The "if High plays" is also hard to just write off. I think he'll play, but will he play well? And what if he gets injured?

If the plan moving forward is to give a lot of LB snaps to safeties, I'm fine with that. I just want to verify with my own eyes that the team has that plan because it seems like a big assumption to make. For all we know, we're just going to put Terez Hall on the field.

I wouldn't have an issue with either position in the 2nd or 3rd round, also keep an eye on the OT position, I think we may also target that position. A gun to my head, not knowing the future of Gilmore and JC being on his contract year, I would probably lean toward cb.

moore has elite separation ability combined with incredible YAC ability. Future star. Patriots need a WR like this. Kendrick Bourne ain’t a game changer folks!

Hall is a solid early down player and played as well as he could behind atrocious DL. He's a depth piece anyway even at current roster.

LB is the last position one should worry about esp. in NE.
KJ Wright is still a free agent, plenty of solid ones on the street..

The only reason this is a story at all is because it's the Patriots who are held to a ridiculous standard of being flawless 100% of the time which is impossible. They didn't have the camera pointed directly at the sideline they had a B camera getting background shots of the whole stadium. I do think it was dumb amd bad optics but the penalty was over the top. That said I was expecting a first so just accept it as the price you pay for other teams pettiness that they have been dominated for 20 years. This **** will go away when the pats return to the pack of just good instead of great every year.

Of all of the highly talked about players, there seems to be the biggest gap between the hype and the analysts evals on this guy. He's perhaps the best DT in the draft, but still has a lot of evals that put him in the late 2nd/early 3rd round, and project him to be a 1 down player in the NFL.

It’s really a statement about the modern game and how DT’s have morphed from a premium position to taking a backseat. They don’t value big space eaters anymore.

But with Barmore I see more pass rush and pressure despite his massive frame. He’s fast and can create push.

It wouldn't surprise me if we draft a wr, especially if there is a top rated one available. Our current depth chart is below, so I wouldn't mind seeing an upgrade there. We don't have pressing, urgent needs, but filling an OT or CB position which could potentially be uncertain in the future is something to monitor.

How many other teams were previously caught filming the opposing sideline? Sure, the only thing they did wrong was the location of the camera in Spygate, but there’s still a precedent there. I do agree that I think they got off lighter than I was expecting them to. And most people have already forgotten about this. I’m not sure how anyone can watch this and not come away with the impression that it’s shady as hell...

I want all of them, and to fix '22 OT and CB roster problems, but...

• there's a lot of talk about how next year's draft will be more valuable than this year's because presumably there will be a CFB season in '21 for evals, and no opt outs of final seasons, and
• BCG says this draft is 3-4 round deep and then falls off a cliff.
• the roster is already unusually full, without gaping holes for this year

So, I suspect they'll move up to grab two-three more highly ranked players, then do a lot of trading into next year.

We fixed a couple of those problems last night. By getting a QB in the 1st, the Pats now have more than enough money rolling forward to extend Gilmore, give Jackson a solid deal, option Wynn, and keep Brown - or any of those combinations, as they see fit.

If, say, Garoppolo had come here, he would have eaten at least 40million over two years. Now the Pats have the bulk of that to hold onto people - or dip back in as more players get cut when rookies gets signed.
