Great point. The path to the win was as impressive as we have ever seen and stopping Mahomes was epic. He has taken 2 rings from him in 3 years.

In my experience living in an area that is either apathetic towards Brady or outright antagonistic (Tuck Rule still hurts), SB51 was the legacy-defining moment. Maybe some Peyton fans spend a lot of time tying Brady's success to BB and this forum overstates that cacophony due to our closeness to the argument, but most fans don't care. SB51 was the Montana tie-breaker done in emphatic fashion. Everything after that is looked more upon as "Brady did it again" rather than a career-defining moment.

The goal posts were always getting moved by Tom Brady detractors. At first it was that he was a fluke, then it was he’s only a game manager who needs a great defense to win games for him, then it was he can’t win without “cheating”, then it was that he’s washed up, then it was “anyone could win in that system with Belichick coaching it”, and now it’s that he needed to go to a team with weapons on offense to win. As if all the great quarterbacks in NFL history who won Super Bowls didn’t have help around them. Anything to discredit Brady. Let them all die mad.

As far as legacy defining goes, I think SB 51 was what [should have] ended the GOAT argument. SB 55 was impressive in that it added another layer and showed he could win it all without Bill Belichick, and did it at age 43. Haters are either running out of excuses at this point or regurgitating ones that were already debunked.

Michael David Smith (FFT) is trying to draw a line from Bernard to Brown, basically because of the point you're making:

Bernard could even line up at slot receiver, and his arrival might make it less likely that the Bucs will bring back receiver Antonio Brown, who remains the only significant contributor from last year’s team who is not under contract to the Buccaneers this year.

I also remember that few people thought the Bucs would actually win the Super Bowl right away. Not this Brady, not the guy whose team faded down the stretch, not the one we remember throwing that pick six to Logan Ryan to finish off his Patriots career. And the stacked narrative comes after the fact that two of the biggest additions on offense (Gronk and AB) played 1 game combined all of the previous season, while Fournette had 367 yards rushing in 13 games played. Playoff Lenny took over but he wasn’t exactly the biggest reason why they got to the playoffs in the first place. The Bucs had some very talented players, like every team does, but they went to the next level as soon as Brady came in. He makes all the difference, and always has.

The Chiefs time may come, but Brady's already dealt multiple kill shots to the notion of a Chiefs dynasty. So Mahomes, with that stacked offense around him, is going to have to start again, basically at step one. But, not to worry, because the media are already signing the great chants about losing to Brady twice in 3 years, but getting to the AFCCG 3 times in a row.
