Kraft acknowledges drafting woes, says approach is changing

I know. That's why they went out and spent big in FA.
************ they didn't go house on FA because of the 2020 draft. Multiple reasons and you know it.
Dugger graded poorly in coverage according to PFF and is allergic to making a play.
Of course he did. He is a rookie. His run D and tackling was borderline elite for a SS in December.
Uche and Jennings didn't show much or else Judon wouldn't have gotten big bucks.
Uche showed plenty. Rubbish.
TE's....they're too easy.

The K got cut.

A C retired.

Herron and Maluia nothing are nothing special.
Herron was fine

Unrealistic expectations. Rookies aren't all-pros year 1.

Mr Wolf? I thought it was Mr. White

There’s only one Mr. White.

I would love to know the changes to the procedures, as I am sure you all would as well. I agree with @TheRainMaker. I would bet Kraft's involvement at this point is much more hands off than when he told Parcells to draft Terry Glenn.
The changes were telling Nick Caserio to kick rocks and enjoy his life in Houston.

Oh, no way! There has been a ruggedly handsome gentleman with a robust 50+ thousands posts who has been saying this on here since late 2019 and pointing at Nick Caserio as the common denominator. Cant think of his name, though.

I'm not expecting them to All Pro's, but your top picks should show more than they did (Dugger, Uche).

I'm not sure who's coddled more on this board: Harry or Dugger? I'm leaning towards Dugger as Harry is old news.

Anyone who thinks Caserio has been the problem should be forced to get a lobotomy, for the good of all humanity.

Dugger has the fifth most tackles on the team last year coming from a crap preparation for the season due to Covid and a small school. I think that's pretty good.

I'm sure this last draft including Uche, Jennigs and most notably Dugger were the last straw for Kraft. Trading out of the 1st round, then trading up for a S like Dugger has got to stop.

Look for an aggressive draft.

I quite liked the 2020 draft. Uche, Dugger, Herron, Jennings...and I think one of Asiasi or Keene (maybe both) will have decent careers.

2019 was the head-shaker - take AJ Brown and DK Metcalf instead of Harry and Williams and no one here or elsewhere is complaining at all.

Before that, they were trying to keep things together for Brady's run (trading for Cooks, for example), and judging from the results, I'd say they did a pretty good job. Also, Kraft should have been a bit more off-the-wall ******** over deflategate and more careful with his camera/marketing team if he was so concerned about draft picks.

That must be why they let him walk to Houston, and why the drafts took a precipitous decline immediately after transitioning from Reese to him.

Well, it's obvious they had to chance the approach. You don't have the GOAT QB to mask your mistakes or draw guys to take a little less

It's interesting he cites covid and weapons as an excuse to cams performance. Which is similar to people on this board.

I'm not sure what the hell you are reading at PFF.

Dugger’s Pro Football Focus grade sat behind only Antoine Winfield Jr. of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kamren Curl of the Washington Football Team and Xavier McKinney of the New York Giants among safeties from his draft class.

PFF credited Dugger for four quarterback hurries and 11 stops against the run. His coverage was held responsible 274 receiving yards and no touchdowns on 38 targets.

Dugger’s in-the-box role brought assignments versus tight ends and running backs. It was spelled by work in the slot as well as in the outfield. It saw him start seven of the final eight games while playing no fewer than 53% of the downs in the process.
For a rookie that is a very, very good 1st year.

Duggar was making the jump from division 2. Uche was switching from DE to LB. It was expected that they would be behind the curve. And then COVID only added to that. They both have excellent size and speed for their positions and potential. Judging them at this point is premature.

I don't think Kraft is "involved", but I believe he had a meeting with Bill and let him know that things need to change.

I don't know much about Wolf, but his Dad was a damn good GM for the Packers.
Yup, one of the best to ever do it. 3-time SB champ and inducted into the Pro Football HOF. He had a great eye for talent. Packers GM for 10 seasons and drafted a future Pro Bowler in every round, all accomplished with Green Bay except for four. Not even Belichick has accomplished that in his 21 seasons in New England (third round is the only one without a Pro Bowler drafted, though I’m surprised Joe Thuney hasn’t been selected to one so far, he was second-team All-Pro in 2019 which is even better than being a Pro Bowler).

1st round
Bubba Franks

2nd round
Darren Sharper
Chad Clifton

3rd round
Antonio Freeman
William Henderson

4th round
Josh Bidwell (with Buccaneers)

5th round
Dorsey Levens
Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila
Travis Jervey
Mark Brunell (with Jaguars)

6th round

Matt Hasselbeck (with Seahawks)

7th round

People here tried this lame-ass attempt to protect BB from bad drafts at the end of the Pioli era, too. Let's show that we've learned from past mistakes.

We know, to a certainty, that BB has final say. We also know, to a near certainty, that BB:

Ignores his scouts when he gets a "hunch" about a player
Ignores his scouts when he gets "insider" info about a player via his college coaching friends
Goes with a tiny draft board and then jumps all over the place, which will inevitably lead to occasional blown opportunities to take wanted players

Remember that it took flooding the draft with picks from 2009-2011 to get up to a decent amount of hits, and to turn around what had been a bad stretch from 2006-2008. And even the 2009 draft was largely a bust (But thank the good lord for that Edelman pick!).

There's Mr. Chalky White from Boardwalk Empire.
Chalky White was getting owned by Dunn Purnsley and needed some bimbo to save him by stabbing homie in the back.

This has been posted numerous times. He graded out poorly in pass coverage.

How their top pick fared: Kyle Dugger (No. 37 overall) came into the league facing a steep learning curve out of Division II Lenoir-Rhyne, but the safety held up in his first year at the NFL level against the run. His 73.6 run-defense grade placed him 17th among all safeties this season. He faltered in coverage, though, with a 55.4 grade in that facet (69th of 91). That was the leading factor in him generating negative PFF WAR.
