What if Mac Jones and Jaylen Waddle are available at 15?

The Andrews contract is a major surprise...... essentially a 2 yr / $6.5 mill deal
And though I can't find specifics on Karras' 1 yr deal besides the headline $4 mill, I suspect the ultimate outlay will be substantially less.
Simply based on these nominal contracts and their longevity, drafting a center is not out of the question.
With 10 draft picks and fewer holes to plug, taking a flyer on a C seems reasonable
Why would the fact that our 2 centers are affordable make use more likely to draft one?
3 centers on the 53 would be unheadof. The OL picks will be T or G
In any event he was talking about a C IN THE FIRST ROUND.

Do teams enter training camp with only 53 players and 2 centers?
Affordability enables expendability without significant cap consequence.
During a draft, displaying positional roster strength can disguise true intent

If we do not trade up for our QB and stay put at 15, expect Bill to take an OT or CB most likely at that spot. I don't think we take WR, LB or DL with that pick.
I think the most likely scenario is that we do trade up however and get a QB( Lance or Jones).
Solid thinking because the first rounder will take 2022 needs into consideration at least equally to 2021 but it’s got to be QB. It is far and away the biggest liability on the team and also 100% unsettled in 22.

Do teams draft players that have to room on the 53 man roster? In the 1st round?

Take Waddle or trade down.

Bigger dilemma: what do they do if Pitts falls to 15, after having acquired Henry and Smith?

Does me writing "taking a flier on a C" insinuate that I believe this roster position should be filled in the 1st round?

And are you insinuating that Karras is 53 man roster set piece?

This was about drafting at 15, taking a flier on a center in the later rounds might well make sense, but, truthfully, if you have your center, and a backup, how many centers do you think you really need? Just like how many offensive tackles do you really need? Realistically, any o-linemen you draft are going to have a very hard time cracking the lineup for the next couple years or so. I think d-linemen or linebackers are where Bill goes if it isn't a qb.

The discussion you entered into was about a C in the 1st round.
Yes Karras is a lock.

A #1 WR and QB are their two most glaring needs, and the idea that Belichick would move down for a center when he just signed Andrews to a 4 year deal is trolling, pure and simple. It isn’t a serious suggestion by any means, it is, as I said, a douchebag post. Had you simply left it at “ what would Belichick do?” It would have been relevant, adding “will he drop down for a center?” Is a troll question. But you already knew that, it’s why you posted it.
The Center suggestion was an attempt at a little levity; I was thinking of what would most likely result in this most broken television sets, ha. If the Patriots did trade back, it is hard to say where they would go. Some big galoot at DT? DE? Guard? WR? QB? I would be very happy with Mac Jones or Waddle...but that seems too obvious for BB.

draft Waddle at 15. Davis Mills at 46

but Waddle is gonna be gone before 15.

Haha. IMHO, I’d take Pitts & try to grab a QB in the later rounds. WR is deeeeep this year (Chase, Waddle, Smith, Tutu, R. Moore, E. Moore, Bateman, St.Brown, Eskridge, Marshall, Dyami, Toney, Stevenson, Surratt, Shi Smith, Rodgers, Darby) etc etc etc....Pitts is a generational player, being that he is a TE that can seamlessly line up out wide & dominate. No doubt about it. Just my take.

why do folks make up problems?
Guys, guys...what if the first 14 teams all fall asleep and don’t turn in their picks on time and the Pats are on the clock and Trevor Lawrence is still available? WHAT DO WE DO THEN, GUYS???

Trade down with the Jets to 23 :D

i say trade up to 12 and take wr waddle if he falls that far.

Draft qb mills at 46, dt shelvin at 96, og d brown at 120 or 122 and rb gaintwell of Memphis at 139!

if jones and waddle and we are still there at 15 i'm looking at

waddle
parsons
jones
surtain
paye
rousseau

in that order

We need to go QB. But if not, and he's somehow available, I'd taken Jaylen Waddle in a heart beat. He's no N'Keal Harry. He's legit and will be a star receiver. Just what the doctor ordered for our offense.

I am not that keen on Davis Mills. He bird-dogs his receivers; NFL safeties will steal his lunch money. He does not appear to have elite accuracy either....but what the heck do I know based on a couple of minutes of highlights...but watch carefully; he telegraphs who he is going to throw to. In the NFL that turns into an interception or a WR with a headache.

I would not take Lawrence; I so hope that the Jets waste number 2 on him....
