Funnily enough, Barry Sanders shared the NFL MVP in 1997 (his 2000+ yard season) with who? Brett Favre. A year later, Terrell Davis won it while having a 2000 yard season. Eric ****erson did not win in 1984 when he had over 2100 yards.
That said, the best comparison is probably Jamal Lewis in 2003. He gained 2100 yards that year as well, and came just short of ****erson's record, but McNair and Manning were awarded the co-MVPs. This is a legendary year for Brady, and he will be the MVP. I also don't think Peterson gets 2000 this year, probably around 1800 (2000's within reach for next year if the Vikings get a QB), but he's really exciting. He hits the hole harder than any back I've ever seen, and starts real deep in the backfield and is already 5 yards down the field if you blink from the snap.
