Which QB would you like to see the Patriots target in the draft?

Jones looks great, but his WRs and protection were pretty awesome; if the Patriots get Jones, his WRs will be, ahem, not be even in the same class as his college WRs and the defensive backs will be much better. That being said I love what I saw with his quick release, looking off the safety, and his accuracy.

But beware: Remember how Ron Brace looks so good in college? It was because he was lined up next to BJ Raji...

Speaking of WRs, after seeing what the Patriots did in Free Agency, it looks they are aligned to draft another WR bust or two. It is the Patriots Way.

A few people on here have been talking about his release being extremely slow? i haven't seen enough iof him to be honest. The argument about being surrounded by great players is tricky as he can only perform as well as he did. It's hard to be better so you don't know how he will be with less talent around him or under more pressure.

Mac Jones at 15, though I doubt he will be still on the board. Kellen Mond in second round.

Bill is moving up. I think we need to start looking at where QB's will fall and who he can realistically trade with. all his moves thus far point to him moving up and drafting a QB. sign Cam newton (cheap, will be a good mentor) signing veterans on offense/defense to big money contracts. hes filling holes in FA because he doesnt expect to have the picks to fill them. and the big money is okay because he is going to have a QB on a rookie contract (and the cap skyrocketing the next couple years).

maybe i'm wrong but his actions are telegraphing his next plan. which is package those picks and try and move up

Here’s how I have them rated...

1. Lawrence - No shot.

2. Wilson - If the Jets pass, we should should be on the phone with Atlanta about moving up to #4. I’m assuming the Dolphins will grab Chase.

3. Lance - The next trade-up candidate. Will probably have to trade up into the top 7 to get him. This is who I think the Pats will have their sights set on since I think even the Jets aren’t dumb enough to pass up on Wilson.

4. Jones - I’d be fine with him at 15 or lower with a trade down. Probably one of the few people who has him rated higher than...

5. Fields - I have a late first round grade on him. He will be long gone by then. His tape didn’t wow me. If anything, he just looked more like a product of OSU’s system limiting his weaknesses. His toughness is off the charts, though.

My best guess is the Patriots probably like Wilson more, but will target Lance if they decide to trade up. His game is very similar to Newton’s except he’s been better in the pocket when you compare the two at this point in their respective careers.
I think this is one of the most interesting questions about where Belichick wants to take the franchise. He has always been more in favor of pocket passers who are good at reading defenses, are really accurate, and take care of the ball, however he has also always looked to college as a sign of where pro football is headed, and that’s athletic QB’s who can extend plays and make them with their feet. Ideally he wants a QB who has all those attributes but in this first round it seems like a choice, with Lance as the more athletic option and Jones the more traditional pocket passer. If Jones is there at #15 and Belichick passes n him then I think it will indicate that he doesn’t want to go long term with QB’s who can’t extend plays and make them with their feet. I don’t know if Belichick is willing to pay the price to move up for Lance but it certainly will make Draft night interesting for Patriot fans.

Trey Lance in the 1st or Purdy in the 5th

I predict Jones or Trask, maybe Franks on day 3. Not sure which QB I like.

I'd trade our #1 and #2 both this year and next to get one of the top four. We have extra picks later, some could be flipped into next year, so we could still have two years of viable drafts, just starting in round 3.

Short of that, I don't know. If Jones makes it to #15 I think I would pass. Trade down into the 20s and take him if he's there, sure - but I think he'll be gone by 15.

Mond, Mills, Newman in the second or later? I guess but I'm losing confidence in getting a long term QB at that point. I think I would hope JG or Minshew becomes available for trade (very possible) by then.

Trask is awful. Bad legs, no mobility, exposed without Pitts in the lineup.
Agree, Trask is trash. Having watched every snap Mac Jones has taken at Alabama(my daughter attends), I think people are underestimating him. The accuracy numbers are real. He did not pad his stats in a dink-and-dunk passing attack, nor did he always have wide-open receivers he could miss a little. His deep-ball numbers were helped by Devonta Smith because he is an absolute freak on contested balls, but I can't remember him underthrowing deep balls to his high-end speedster WRs. I've seen him squeeze throws into small windows, and routinely know where those windows are by reading the defense. You can say he only has around 15 starts under his belt, but running the scout team at Alabama before that gives him about 3 years of experience facing a pro level secondary on a daily basis.

For me it’s Lance or Fields in the first unless Wilson drops.
Second I’m looking at Mills and Mond I have Mac Jones as a third round pick.
We might want to wait to grab our QB of the future next year.
I wouldn’t be against taking Mond or Mills in the second or Third and see what we have,

Every QB needs good players around him. And it’s a prediction, not an endorsement, though he has a lot of qualities I like. After Lawrence, not sure anyone is that great.

I think Zach Wilson is the superior QB in this year's draft and more NFL ready than Lawrence or the others - that being said we have no chance to get him and based on Belichick's track record he won't move to take any early QB so my guess is a guy like Kyle Trask later on

What track record tells you that?

Fields or Lance. If too cost prohibitive then go BPA at #15.
Much as I want a QB in the first if Micah Jones is the pick I’m still going to feel really good about it.

Reports from NFL Scouts about his Senior Bowl Performance weren't exactly thrilling to read either so I'd pass on Jones here. I think Pick 15 is too much value for him. In a trade down scenario I wouldn't hate it either but he is probably gone by then
Really? I read that he was the best of the QB’s at Senior Bowl practices and even boosted his draft stock. Some serious misdirection going on here.

Look at Post 55 here from bgc that's what I was reffering to. I can't copy it from my cellphone sorry

I love Wilson. He’s my favorite “attainable” QB in the draft. Something like only 13% of his throws were deemed “uncatchable” last year. That’s insane. But there is no way that he’s more pro-ready than Lawrence. Not even close.
