Or - unpopular as it may be - they are in for some nasty mauling w Cam

I wouldn't expect any drafted rookie to start a game unless Cam gets injured or his footwork starts melting down in the second half of the season. Even if we trade up to #7 I'd expect who we pick to get mostly a redshirt year for development.

So as things stand right now I am fully expecting a year of mauling.

I maybe wrong but the Zeitler deal is less than expected so maybe the Thuney camp are exploring an extension first with the Pats.......great news if correct.
Not realy, PFF had him at $6M/yr. He came in at $7.5M

Thuney's estimate is $14-15M/yr

People who think Gilmore « is a bargain at his current salary » aren’t putting enough stock into the very real possibility Gilmore isn’t showing up « at his current salary ».

Gilmore is another year older and coming off a significant injury. He doesn't have the leverage to hold out like he had last year coming off a DPOY season.

Might be « fun » to watch the board melt down (though I’m hoping -real fun- as well).
So far, Ring6 is atop the Offseason Meltdown Leader board. Lmao

My bad , I did not realise there was such a big difference between Zeitler and Thunney

I was looking for Schefter, came across this parady account, this is hilarious....

Keeping Thuney would low key be another smoke signal for me that they might seriously break the streak and use future assets to trade up for a QB in the draft. Who is the best friend of an inexperienced QB ? A dominant OL.

Thuney would make this line much better. But I think as long as they keep Andrews, the Pats should have an o-line that could protect any QB. With Wynn moving inside, the need for a Thuney is much less even though he would be an upgrade.

But you are also assuming that if the Pats drafted one of the top QBs that they would throw him to the lions this year. I don't think Belichick would do that even if he got Trevor Lawrence. I think Belichick would want any QB he drafted to hold the clipboard for at least one year. I think he is old school in that way and sees a lot of value in a rookie QB learning from the sidelines.

True. But he’s very wealthy. With that, comes some leverage.

No matter how often you repeat it.. Wynn is a tackle not a guard, Onwenu is primarly a guard and can be used as an emergency tackle.

I am not assuming that at all. In fact I have been saying forever that a rookie QB -- even Lawrence -- would get a redshirt year. But if we resign Thuney we will have a very strong core group in the interior signed for more than the upcoming season and odds are either Wynn or Brown -- maybe even both -- will be back on an extension as well.

I thought you said the cap spending should be viewed in terms of units, not players like the "bozos on the board" think.

The OL is at $18M w/o the Brown contract. Wouldn't adding Brown + Thuney (est. $14M/yr) blow the "unit" spending out of the water? Brown replaces Cannon, but he's still going to have a $7-8M cap hit.

Why do I have a feeling that we're going to get blue balled today?

It's going to be funny how surprised people are when Wynn opens the season playing the exact same position he always has here.

With Feliciano and Zeitler signing early it further tells it will be a hard market for Guards. Maybe Thuney ends up the only one getting paid close to top $ or could come down as well despite multiple interest.
Neither Zeitler nor Feliciano topped $8M APY. That's surprising all things considered. I would have thought they'd both get at least 10M/APY. So, maybe that helped put things in perspective for Thuney.

I hope he still gets paid.. but stays with the Pats..

I wonder if Andrews' price is so high that Thuney looks reasonable now. An OL of Brown, Onwenu, Thuney, Mason and Wynn is exciting. I never thought it was possible for cap reasons but that's a bang, bang OL. I'd be pumped.
