It's easy, and only takes a few moments. If you don't think a player's going to make the team, and you can get some draft compensation for him, you trade the player. That's BB101.Anything less than a 5th, and I’d just bring him to camp and see what happens. I doubt think he’ll make the team, but for a 6th or a 7th, may as well see what he can do.
I put Gronk ahead of Edelman by a mile and both he and Seymour are 1a and 1b as the most important picks by Bill. Without Gronk, Pats aren't in position to win 3 Super Bowls. In fact, a healthy Gronk was most likely the difference in 2011 and 2012 so that's just two more possible Super Bowl opportunities right there.Outside of grabbing Brady in the 6th, and when you think of the context (i.e. the 'journalist' you're taking your post from) combined with the success level of the player, the Seymour pick may be the greatest draft selection of BB's tenure.*
*Edelman would have to be in the running for the title, too.
If a team offered a 3rd for Harry, I'd take it in a second and send them a nice thank you card. His last comments about not feeling any pressure are quite alarming. He's been outplayed by a undrafted FA and it doesn't really seem to bother him.I might be tempted for a 3rd at the worst...otherwise...let's see what he can do with a FULL OFF SEASON and a new QB. He may be inconsistent....but he has shown flashes and CAN BLOCK....
Yes and then suddenly the oline got healthy and Sony got healthy and he did really well. Kind of funny how some people like you don't understand that football is a team game. No matter how good you are individually, if the o-line can't open a hole you cant get 6 yards a carry. If the qb is bouncing balls 6' behind you, then you aren't going to make catches. It doesn't mean the player is good, it simply means you can't judge anything when you have a historically bad qb throwing to you.I used to think Sony was the king of getting excuses made for him but Harry has stolen the title. The guy has done nothing and reading in between the lines from the coaching staff and beat reporters there seems to be some questioning of how much he wants it.
I agree financially, but they may also feel like he is just not going to work out and needs replacing. It's a deep draft at WR, they may just want to move on and try again with a different guy this year instead of next year. It's stupid to trade him now. It's a 2m cap charge and they'll get nothing for him.
Better off being patient, see what happens in OTA, TC pre-season and see how he does with the new QB.
If he sucks, trade/cut. If he does well, everyone makes out.
Love the example. Somehow, I'd completely forgotten about the big galut. He's definitely another in contention. And I should probably put big Vince among the finalists, too.I put Gronk ahead of Edelman by a mile and both he and Seymour are 1a and 1b as the most important picks by Bill. Yep. Then he lost snaps to an UDFA and a journeyman. It's incredible how much praise he was getting after the Seahawks game. People were annualizing his one game yardage over a 16 games and saying he's a 1,000 yard receiver. He did nothing after that
Wait, so we suck at drafting running backs now? In 9 games when he was healthy last year Sony averaged 5.7 yards a carry, Harris averaged 5.0 yards a carry. They drafted James White, does he suck? WTF are you talking about? Think before you post.Depends on the position. You named 2 Olinemen and we had Scar one of the best Oline coaches helping on evaluations. We suck at drafting WR and RB and our offensive coordinator thought Tim Tebow was a 1st rounder. We also have a broken CB scouting system. Anyone we draft at WR and CB is immediately suspect unless they're an undrafted free agent. The only positions I trust our staff knows what they're doing on a high draft pick are DE, DT, LB, Safety, and OLine. Ignore all these other positions because the Patriots are terrible at evaluating other positions.
Sony is a JAG. Lagarette Blount ran well when there were big holes too. Sony doesn't do anything that your average run of the mill RB cant do.Yes and then suddenly the oline got healthy and Sony got healthy and he did really well. Yeah Wilfork was an awesome pick completing the big 3 on the D-line.Love the example. Somehow, I'd completely forgotten about the big galut. He's definitely another in contention. And I should probably put big Vince among the finalists, too.
Just a note with regards to Edelperson (hat tip @PatsWickedPissah ): remember that he was a 7th rounder which, like Brady being a 6th rounder, factors into the equation.
If someone was dumb enough to give up a third I’d drive him to Logan now. As much as I dislike what he’s done so far I don’t think there’s really any point in dumping him for a 6th or 7th round pick unless we completely overhaul the receiver room. In all likelihood he gets cut after this season but there is really no point in selling low.Oh thank goodness someone wants to take Harry off our hands! If they offer a 2nd I'd be ecstatic. If it's only a 3rd, I'd very likely still take it. Most likely it will involve a pick swap to entice teams to bite. But yes, PLEASE let's correct this colossal drafting mistake and move on!
See there you go again, you can't have it both ways. Player puts up great numbers it is the line, historically bad qb and the wr's don't put up big stats and they suck. Perhaps if you actually watched the games you could add some insight. I realize they conflict with the Tampa games sometimes, but jeez.Sony is a JAG. Lagarette Blount ran well when there were big holes too. Sony doesn't do anything that your average run of the mill RB can do.
I’m not talking about numbers. I’m talking about actually watching him play football. He doesn’t make anyone miss. He doesn’t have breakaway speed. He doesn’t really catch passes. He’s just there.See there you go again, you can't have it both ways. Player puts up great numbers it is the line, historically bad qb and the wr's don't put up big stats and they suck. I think there’s a chance someone on the Pats side leaked this to let people know they’re willing to entertain offers. And if that is the case I think there is a solid chance they think he may not make the team.Naah I don't think the offer will be that low. NFL teams still use original drafting position as a starting point for value which can depreciate over time but Harry is still young. The fact that we are even getting offers means that some teams had a positive scouting report on him. We know that Harry is Trash, but one man's trash is another's treasure.
I'm going to to guess it will be something like 3rd round pick for Harry and we flip them our 5th round pick. That still gets us into the top 100 talent pool and in a draft deep with WR, it's pretty likely we get someone better for our system than "Zero Degrees of Separation" Harry!
Given the perceived depth of WRs in this draft, and the struggles of N'Keal to this point, why would anyone want to give up a 3rd round pick for Harry? They'd probably be better just off drafting a WR in the top 3 rounds.Naah I don't think the offer will be that low.
