Player Signing Trent Brown trade to Pats

My theory that Brady made Trent Brown is now going to be put to a test. Need a QB now that can make quick decisions and get rid of that ball. Because no one is going through Brown in a direct line or with swim moves, etc. Run around him? Yes, that's how he's always been exploited.

I trust in Bill. This isn't a depth move. This is a lot of money.

The fact that he's going into FA after the season also says something about Belichick's mentality going into this year.

Also, this is not an LT for Cam Newton.

Love this move. Immediately lessens our need to rely on Cannon and improves our 5 best OL even if it isn't immediately clear who plays what spot.

What no one knows is that Mason's been working hard at center (this is a joke).

Wynn-Onwenu-Mason-Cannon-Brown...goal line stand that, I dare ya.

**** it, I know you're joking but let's just do the 4 tackle OL.

You laugh but we don’t know the experiments that go on once the media is sent away every day. Maybe, Isaiah Wynn has shown an aptitude for shotgun snapping.

Thinking about it some more, my expectation is Brown plays RT here (until inevitably injuries make players move around). He's been on that side every year except the Patriots year and we have an opening there.

The biggest question to me is whether we keep Andrews or Thuney (or neither). If we go with Thuney, he would likely be our center.

Onwenu would have to play guard, but on what side? Someone said he "isn't a LG", which I can't assess one way or the other. If that's true, what about moving Shaq to the other side?

Did not expect to wake up to this move. I like it!

Houston signed a player the other day and he was SMILING what a crazy world.
You know, the media will tell us what a miserable pr*ck Bill is because he's a miserable pr*ck to them. There's plenty of players that will want to be coached by him, plenty who respect him and plenty who want to be here. No all, mind you, but a decent amount.

Cannon is gone.......saves the pats 7M in cap space

My bet:
LT - Brown
LG - Wynn
C - Andrews
RG - Mason
RT - Onwenu

Brady didn't make Brown.......contract year made Brown.....

I would not mess with moving Onwenu.......we are going to move on from Cannon and save 7M in cap space........we are moving on from Thuney because Wynn will make a damned good LG......Brown,Wynn,Andrews,Mason,Onwenu is the most cost effective approach that doesn't sacrifice quality.....no need to make an LT a RT and a RT an LT

I'm super interested on their thoughts on the OL class. Maybe they go swing tackle mid round? I agree about Little and the center position. There are 4-5 guys that could start this year.

In any case this buys us some flexibility but I'm not passing in round two or three for example. If the value is there. Hopefully Brown stays healthy, available but he's not a sure thing and Wynn has missed some time. Just think this is us giving our war room more flexibility.
What’s interesting to me is that they have the 5th year option decision on Wynn coming up in May. Both projected starting tackles could be free agents after 2021. This might not put tackle off the board in the 1st round; they drafted Solder in 2011 even though they also wound up resigning Light for one more season and already had Vollmer.

Mmmmm... beef.

Onwenu played like 3 positions last year and excelled at all of them. I would be more scared to move Wynn, which people seem to think would just be a trivial thing to do.

Move has me salivating. The OL is going to be nasty if they retain Andrews. Love it, and the fact it’ll probably be a near wash financially if they cut Cannon and that the pick swap is likely extremely minimal, it’s a masterful move.

Also makes me wonder their intentions. Garoppolo? Gotta give him a great OL to protect him. Or perhaps trying to give great protection for a rookie player?
IMO whoever we get I think the idea will be to put the least amount of pressure on the QB trying to carry an offense. More running, better pass protection. Obviously the WRs/TEs need to improve too but I think it starts with the running game and play action so we don't have to rely on the other weapons winning due to being more talented than the defenders

Trent Brown gave us the best LT play I can remember over the last 20 years in his short stint here.
My ideal line would be
LT-Brown
LG-Thuney
C-Andrews
RG-Mason
RT-Onwenu
reserves would be Wynn and Cannon.

I seriously want us to find a way to keep Thuney and Andrews. Trade Wynn away if we have to.
