Mahomes will never be better than Brady

Mahomes is basically a Rodgers with balls. He definitely didn't choke but was simply overwhelmed by a vaunting pass rush. The Tampa D was the true MVP of the game. Holding KC to just 9 points is unbelievable.

Not saying that TB didn't deserve the MVP because he played an excellent game as well.

Brady is truly the Dynasty slayer.
Mahomes made two great throws that were dropped in the endzone despite pressure on him. I agree Mahomes didn't choke. He tried hard to keep his team in it.

So much of Mahomes's game relies on running around and making incredible throws with his unreal arm. Will he be able to adapt once age diminishes his physical talent? I just don't see his play style standing the test of time like Tom's has.
Mahomes and Rodgers both run around, dodge defenders, and make amazing, athletic throws. They are both great players. But by the time they throw the ball on those plays, Brady would have completed a routine looking pass, and been onto the next play while those guys are still running around earning oohs and aahs.

This is what I thought would happen if KC lost. All the talk about how Mahomes is so good that he doesn't need an offensive line is now complaining about the offensive line and mostly absolving Mahomes. Just to be clear, I don't put this entire loss on Mahomes. He wasn't 100% and his line was banged up. But he also played badly. He missed several throws and refused to take the underneath options enough.

The Bucs had a simply game plan. Take Jill away and the deep shot, beat us with something else. Mahomes didn't adapt, and neither did Reid. I know Reid is going through some **** right now, but that was a horribly called game with very few surprises. They didn't have any trick and few specially designed plays ready. I think their plan was to lean on their talent and that bit them is the ass.

Would Brady have won with that offensive line? Probably not, but he would have got the ball out fast and worked around Hill getting taken away. He also would have at least scored one touchdown. The fact is Mahomes came in against a 41 and 43 year old Brady as the favorite TWICE in the playoffs and lost. There is no excuse for that. Anyone who says otherwise is just wrong.

Double Post. May as well fill it in...

I couldn't get chicken wings tonight. I called at 4 and the place I wanted to go told me they weren't taking any more orders. That never happened to me before. Very sad about that : (

Mahomes is an awesome QB and the Chiefs will always be in contention while he's there. Imagine if the QB wasn't mobile tonight? Chiefs have the nucleus to at least return next year, but that will eventually erode if the team doesn't draft well.
They already f’d up last year taking CEH ahead of OL. They should’ve waited a round or 2 later to grab a rb.

If he wasn't mobile it might have given them a better chance. It's almost impossible to block for a guy that runs back a zillion yards and then runs right into his blocker's assignments. How are they supposed to know what space to wall off for him?

He is an unbelievable player, but I think we saw his future 7 or 8 years down the road. His style of play is going to degrade fast.

He also made several throws that should've been intercepted. Probably 3. Mahomes is more lucky than anything. This could've been a way worse blowout had TB not throttled it down for the entire 4th qtr.

Mahomes is still young, one thing I noticed is that he is not really calling protections, he needs to start doing that to protect himself.

Tampa played a really smart game all night. Would only argue that the throw to Gronk on third down made little sense. Other than that a perfect game.

I think Tom destroyed everyone's reality. It is hard enough to make just one super bowl and win let alone make 2, 3, 7, 10. Because Tom made it look easy, people think guys like Mahomes can win 3+. I think people need a reality check. The greatest QBs of all time not named Brady had a tough time winning 2 let alone 7+. Montana was the GOAT before Brady. Bradshaw was not a great QB, he had a great team. The odds are against Mahomes winning anything close to Brady or even 3. The Chiefs will be almost $19 million over the cap this coming season. This is the start of where their cap will catch up in the next few years. In 2022, Mahomes makes $31,450,000 and Hill makes $20,685,000. That is a great duo, but 2 players will take up 1/4 of the cap. Kelce's contract is decent. I think the Chief's window starts to close within 2-3 seasons.

Tom Brady – 7
Joe Montana – 4
Terry Bradshaw – 4
Troy Aikman – 3
Eli Manning – 2
Peyton Manning – 2
Ben Roethlisberger – 2
John Elway – 2
Jim Plunkett – 2
Bob Griese – 2
Roger Staubach – 2
Bart Starr – 2
Steve Young - 1
Drew Brees - 1
Russel Wilson - 1
Aaron Rodgers - 1
Brett Favre - 1
Johnny Unitas - 1
Joe Namath - 1
Marino - 0

This reminded me of a college football national championship where the talent level is outrageously mismatched. That Chiefs line was dominated worse than the Patriots in 2015 (Denver) or 2007 (NYG.) Absolute beatdown.

Hope it isn’t lost on people that Kansas City has the best tight end in football and yet he provided no benefit to the protection or running game, whereas the guy on the other side, though past his prime, contributed in every way.

Tony Romo did Mahomes dirty putting all that on him btw.

Perhaps the debate should not be Brady vs Mahomes.

We all know who wins that court case.

Instead it should probably be Mahomes vs Rodgers vs Roethlisberger, etc. for the runner up.

Then you can also add in Peyton, Elway, Marino and others in the race for number two.

And for historical purposes let us throw Unitas and Graham into the debate, though those two are impossible to compare today.
Wait... I thought Brady was always chasing Montana? Did he disappear from the discussion?

Mahomes needs to catch Rodgers/Brees/Manning first let alone Montana! Stop it nobody is ever catching Tom Brady now
