Exactly, stick around for a few more seasons before they end up in cap hell. He could stat pad his resume.

I dunno. HC's make 4X more $ , he could set up his family. Also it's extremely rare to be able to join a franchise with a good QB like Herberts or Watson or Lawrence. I think he should take a HC job.

.

Well, if you are going to go that route, then it's the 4 years, Option year, and 2 franchise years. That would be 7. Either way, it's not 6.. And as soon as you start Franchising, you are out of the realm of "relatively low cost". For instance, the franchise tag for QBs this year was $26+M. Or about 12.5% of the Salary cap. Next year it will go UP and be even a larger % of the cap than it was this year because the cap will be falling $20-$25M.
It's six because because he already played this year.

Nice thread. Interesting question. Good responses.

Lions - No. Cap space is weak. Aging QB.
Chargers - Yes. Cap space is strong. Nice young QB.

Falcons - No. Cap space is weak. Aging QB.

Texans - Hmm. Great young QB. Cap space is horrible.

Jags- Yes. Excellent cap space. But Trevor Lawrence maybe a great prospect he's still an unknown.

I would choose:

1. Chargers - QB and nice players on both sides of the ball. Good cap space. And nine picks in the upcoming draft.

2. Jags- Trevor Lawrence. Great cap space. And good drat capital.

3. Texans - great young QB. Horrible cap space and horrible draft capital.

Agree with the top3. This thread is less about Eric B and basically a discussion of the best landing spots. I think if he is offered SD he should take it. Same for Daboll. Basically SD is the best job.

Same as last year when he interviewed badly. He's the 3rd coordinator for Reid in KC. He's just running Reid's offense.

CBS says Meyers putting together a staff!

Why would Daboll ever go to the Jets. Terrible organization, toxic media, compared to great landing spots in SD, Houston, or Jacksonville.

.
Houston is a completely toxic landing spot right now with the whole Watson situation and alot of coaches are steering clear of them.

SD is in a good situation because they have their QB of the next few years. Jacksonville also has no pressure. Khan will give you 3 years and you'll have Lawrence

The flavor of the year is Chiefs offensive coaches.

Nagy is on thin ice. Bieniemy will fail to impress too. Why? No Mahomes, Kelce and Hill.

How many times do people need to see the same movie to not figure out the ending?

I would be hesitant to go to Houston. This is an organization that hired Jack Easterby to become the Executive VP of Football Operations, a position he does not appear to be particularly qualified for. Easterby was a part of the decision-making process with Bill O'Brien - decisions that got BoB fired, and led to a four-win season with no first round draft pick this spring. I would also question the football competency of owner Cal McNair.

The Jets are also out due to incompetent ownership, and the Lions probably fall into that group too. Atlanta has an aging quarterback and is in a bad salary cap situation.

As far as staying in KC, I would say no. You don't know what will happen in the future; there is no guarantee your high market value is going to remain that way. Go for a promotion and a bigger paycheck now, when you have that opportunity.

So it comes down to the Chargers or Jaguars. That is a decision between being able to work in the area he is from - or going to a division where it looks like you have a better chance of winning. The Chargers are a better team today, but Jacksonville's addition of Trevor Lawrence improves them dramatically immediately. In addition the Jaguars have by far the most cap space of all 32 teams to spend in free agency.

Chargers, Houston and soon the Jaguars have exciting young qb’s to build around!

Jaguars have a ton of cap space and draft picks,

I’d say either Chargers or Jags. I picked the Chargers, though. The QB is already there. They just need to build around him. Of course, that means you have to see Reid and Mahomes twice a season. But they seem like the most ready-made team for him.

Supposedly, Meyers has been offered the JAGS job and it's his for the taking..
He was just schmoozing with Khan on his yacht Friday night.

Good chance Watsin gets traded.
So that leaves Bolts and Jags.
Herbert proved himself. I think Lawrence will too but Bolts have more to work with and are a less disfunctional org.

And you think he will persuade Bieniemy to serve on his staff?

no idea what you are talking about.

supposedly Meyers exploring opportunity to coach Jacksonville next season.

Reasonable to assume the Holy Father Easterby was scared off by Bieniemy's many past arrests involving booze, cars, women, and violence plus the recruiting scandal he was linked to while he was an assistant coach at his alma mater Colorado
Notable that he was banned from his alma mater for 1 year and Cincy passed on him as a HC years back despite being a former player there.
All many years ago

Tough call for an owner hiring a HC/face of your multibillion dollar organization
Having players love and respect you is only part of the formula, you need an owner to trust you as well

Very curious about the Atlanta report....What goes down in a "bad interview"?
Does the owner try to test an applicant's temperament like during a combine interview...."So Eric, what else did you do besides choreograph Andy Reid's designed plays"?

Charges for sure
