OT: Official 2020 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

It is so pathetic to me that a grown man who goes by another man's name on a Patriots website spends most his time on said website bashing the man he named himself after. Flat out embarrassing.

What's embarrassing is a Pats fan crying about the state of affairs on this team and starting a thread about it...and that's after his team won 6 super bowls over 20 years.

Forcing Brady out the door is the biggest blunder of Bill's career.
No it isn't. Spygate was the biggest blunder of Bill's career by a mile. Benching Butler in the Super Bowl is #2. Nothing else is close. In both cases, another coach does either of those things and they're fireable offenses.

This would only be on the list if the Pats were contending for a SB, which they weren't. All this did is kick off the rebuild right away. Perhaps that didn't need to happen now but it needed to happen eventually.

Yeah I guess I should just move to a new city and start rooting for that team. By the way what is your screen name on your Washington nationals forum? BryceyHarper34?

Alex Smith isn't healthy either and his mobility is limited. But I agree that this game will really test the Bucs OL.
TB still has the best blocking in TE in Gronkowski. If they they keep him in to help the Oline or with some chip blocks. I think they'll be alright.

In other words, max protection for Brady and lots of Rb runs and check down passes as they won't need to score more than 30.

With all this negativity towards Bill and praise for Brady, Brady had better perform well against good teams.

vs playoff teams - 10 TDS, 9 INTS

vs non-playoff teams - 30 TDs, 3 INTs
Interceptions go up and touchdowns go down vs playoff opponents (especially without Marpet in a vertical offense). News at 11.

Have you been posting in this thread all day again, dude?

I fully expect TB to handle WFT however this was the worst possible matchup with that pass rush.

Would have loved to see Brady go into Dallas and I’m sure plenty of other NFL fans, and light up there Swiss cheese defense in Jerry World.
TB should beat WFT easily if they have patience and use Gronkowski and RB for max protection, short passes, and a healthy dose of running plays. They don't need to score many points as the WFT O looks pretty bad.

If TB just uses the bombs away approach like Arians likes to do. It will be a hit and miss type of game. If it is more of the miss variety, Tom could get hit alot and the game will be close.

Yeah, nice try. Brady's numbers in the past vs playoff teams would have been a lot better. When was the last time you saw Brady get slapped 38-3?

That’s pretty much what they have been doing since the bye. Their Offense looks so much more fluid.

Brady's also 1-5 against playoff teams without Bill...

With the talent Brady has, anything short of a super bowl this year is a failure. Pressure's on...
Brady in the SB 9 out of 18 years as the starter with NE.

50% chance he is in it this year. It will be disappointing if he goes below 50%. But they should beat WFT at the very least.

In games where the Bucs (a) scored at least 20 points, and (b) Brady didn't throw multiple interceptions, their record was 11-0 and their average margin of victory was 17 points.

The offense didn't play well in a single loss this year...in fact, I don't even think the offense played at an acceptable level - where you'd expect to have any reasonable chance of winning - in any of the five losses (Saints twice, Rams, Chiefs, Bears.)

If the Bucs offense has really turned the corner, I think they have as good a chance as any NFC team of winning the conference, except for the fact that Sean Payton lives inside Bruce Arians head.

Whi said he was the MVP?
I said Brady should get some votes. Roger's will win it but it shouldn't be unanamous. Mahomes and Allen will probably get some votes too.

The splits between wins/losses and playoff teams/non-playoff teams is almost the same thing for Tampa's 2020 regular season, so he's just splitting win/loss differences which is going to look similar for every team.

I think Brady will get votes for his play in December. Almost carried that team and offense this past month.

Brady slightly improved his legacy in 2020. (not easy to improve on being the GOAT) Finishing 2nd in TD's, 3rd in yards and having a QBR over 100 at the age of 43 with a team not in the playoffs since 2007 is another notch in his belt. He certainly has a lot of help with the players around him but if he were to somehow lead them far in the playoffs including a possible comeback victory his reputation would be enhanced even more.

50% chance he's in the Super Bowl is a bit of a reach. Too many good teams in the NFC.

Year 1:

Bill -

  1. 7-9
  2. 10 total TDs by Pats QBs
  3. Failed to qualify for playoffs for first time since ‘08
  4. .444 without Brady.

Tom -
  1. 11-5
  2. 40 TDs
  3. Made playoffs for the first time since ‘07
  4. .687 without BB

Patriots went from 12-4 to 7-9 by replacing TB12 with a QB who couldn't get a job with any other team.
Tampa went from 7-9 to 11-5 by replacing a QB, who couldn't get a starting job with any other team, with TB12.

So basically Brady is worth 4-5 wins over a non-starting quality QB.

I think they’ll get there and win it. I’ve seen this show too many times in NE to expect anything else.

Here's a look at Mike Evans block stats (not a deep analysis or anything.)

Keeping in mind that he was hobbled for much of the season and it took a while for him and Brady to build a connection, this is pretty impressive. I had read on the Bucs message board that the Winston-Evans combo was incredibly inefficient and led to a lot of turnovers and incompletions despite his big totals.

His yards/catch are down as expected (high risk), but completion percentage went up a lot, almost 10 points from last year. Brady wasn't afraid to throw deep to Evans but to move the chains and capitalize in the red zone with touchdowns. I can't think of two more important measures of efficiency than how often someone gets a first down and how often they get a touchdown when targeted.

He took it in the ass in 2017 against the Queefs and 2018 against the Jags. A team of his getting waxed in one game is nothing new.

put Brady on this Pats team as it is this season and the pats finish 9-7 and out of the playoffs

put cam on the bucs roster, and maybe they lose two wins......neither is worth 4-5 wins in todays NFL
