I'm sad. I know the run was awesome but it ended earlier than it should have. I am used to at least a couple playoff games and AFC championship trophies propping doors open at Gillette Stadium. I miss Bill’s utter disgust as he is handed the Lamar Hunt trophy. He cant wait to get it out of his hands. It is even more sad that a big reason for the success is still lighting it up with 40 TD's and an 11-5 record and gets the chance to earn a doorstop.

I feel the opposite way. That to me is one of the best things that could happen. Bill is paying attention to what’s being said about him and his legacy and I think he’ll try to answer the critics and change the narrative back by not messing around with the likes of the NKeal Harrys of the draft anymore and getting some real talent here quickly. If it means spending big, he’ll do it. I really think he will try to answer a Brady SB win quickly. Looking forward to seeing him try.

Then again they might bring Cam back so...

I can think of many worse things than Tampa winning the SB this season. The run was over. It was over after NE’s 2018 championship.

Here’s what should cheer you up : an unprecedented run of success that featured the greatest coach + greatest QB (with appearances by the greatest TE, a top 2 WR, and a score of HoFers).

Fans that cry about Brady leaving have no idea how difficult it is to (1) sustain excellence (2) keep GOATS together. In no other field, sports or other, do the greatest stay forever. Instead of lamenting a relationship transitioning, I prefer to marvel at how those two were able to keep
It together for two decades. That’s an insane amount of time. Insane.

BB is still around. There’ll be grumbling and such, but he knows what he’s doing. Let’s see how it goes. People panicking after one 7-9 season need to reassess their expectations. 13-3 & 12-4 aren’t givens. For many franchises they are once in a lifetime seasons.

Bill will have to do something he may not have done during his first 20 years with NE, selling FA's to come to NE without a Franchise QB and dispel rumors of it not being the most pleasant place to work. That could be difficult for him.

It was over after NE’s 2018 championship.

It was arguably over after the 2019 Draft. But it officially ended when they released AB. Had Bill put more effort into that draft (not reaching on Harry, not taking a worthless DB in the 2nd round over another WR/TE), not trading Demaryius Thomas after signing AB and then releasing AB, saving that 2nd round pick on Sanu, the Pats get #2 seed at worst and the Chiefs are on the road to Gillette.

Definitely agree with your second statement. I’ve got a great life but even with as crappy and hard to watch as this team was this year I still looked forward to Sundays.

Last year was harder than this year. Brady ending his Pats career with a Pick 6 and the Pats limping through December, backing into the playoffs. I didn't believe this was a Super Bowl team at any point this year or leading up to this year, so...

It was obvious the storm clouds were gathering after the AB saga and the Ratbirds game last year.

I've been indifferent regarding the outcome of this season for a few weeks now, but way more interested in seeing what the youngins can do to show they're part of a future contender. On that front, mostly good news lately. They're competing, and today a few of them made some cool plays.

Can't win the Super Bowl every year...and if some here didn't take time to fully enjoy it the first time around, I recommend watching some of those games or maybe taking in a Three Games to Glory DVD set this playoff season. I know I plan to watch a few games from some of the SB runs.

I'd rather slam my **** in a car door than watch KC, Pitt or Buf chase a 'ship this winter.

Seventeen years ago I told a friend that from here on out I was playing with house money as far as being a fan of the Patriots goes. Therefore no matter what happened going forward with the Pats, I was Teflon; nothing mattered. (At the time I didn't consider the possibility of cameragate, AH or the Ideal Gas Law... but I digress).

Let me explain the logic.

There are 32 teams in the NFL, so on average starting today a fan should wait 16 years to see his team win it all. (Yes, this math does not include multiple championships - but please bare with me for this exercise.)

Based on that, let's say you became a fan of an NFL team at the age of four. You should expect to experience the euphoria of a championship season 16 years later, at the age of twenty. After that it should be another one every 32 years; a second at age 52, then a third at age 84.

In other words NFL fans have a reasonable expectation for at most three championships in their lifetime; more like two depending on length of time as a fan and other teams winning multiple times.


So don't worry about 2020, or 2021, or 2022; I'm not!

• We had the enviable experience of being a fan in 2001.
• We had the enviable experience of proving doubters wrong that 2001 was not a fluke two years later.
• We had the enviable experience of being a fan for back-to-backs and two-out-of-three in 2004.
• We had the enviable experience of quieting the trash talkers and doubters with Malcolm Butler in 2014.
• We had the enviable experience of the arguably the greatest comeback in NFL history, 28-3.
• We had the enviable experience another two-out-of-three, the perfect bookend.

From here until the day I pass I am playing with house money as a fan of the Patriots. No matter how many losses happen going forward, in terms of fandom I will figuratively die as a billionaire.

How can one poor season carry any weight against the ridiculous amount of success this team has had.
There was always going to be a first year after Brady. And it was always going to be a struggle because of cap issues that all the winning naturally created.
The bad one is over, and the patriots have something like 60 mill in cap space, which they have never even been close to having before, and have proven again and again they know how to build a team better than anyone ever has. 2020 was a bump in the road that had to happen. 2021 things get back to normal.

Ok, here ya go. You could be a Houston Texans fan today. But your not. So your team has the 3rd pick in the draft but it doesnt because it belongs to Miami. That 3rd pick could of netted you the best LT available in years but instead you got a pretty good LT that you gave up 2 1st and 2 2nds for. Oh, and one of the best wr’s in years was traded for a 2nd rd pick. So basically they watched their team suck the whole year with barely anything to show for it and dont have Hopkins anymore because he barely spoke up against a tyrant who is no longer there.
