Strategy for Next Season

"Strategy"??

Get players, then maybe we can indulge in strategic thinking, not until.

Right now strategizing would be like a guy with a pool noodle strategizing how he's gonna handle himself in the upcoming gunfight.

I would welcome jimmy back in a heartbeat! Contract would be filled with incentives.

if we could add receivers waddle or smith from Alabama in the draft, then jimmy would have a chance to succeed!
He;s likely better than what we have, but that's faint praise indeed.

1. Draft speed/high IQ WR in mid 1st rd.
2. Draft a 3-4 DE in the 2nd rd.
3. Draft a MLB

FA:

The market will be flooded and you do have money to spend, 4th in the league, so BB should have plenty of wiggle room to get his kinds of guys at very good prices. Just make sure you sign the guys who want to be here for the right reasons, which is to win consistently and be part of a team with no drama.

Expect a lot of retirements and FA moves due to the cap tumbling. It will be like in 1995 when the cap finally took hold and the Jax and Carolina franchises were essentially built that way. Many will retire at age 30 because they won't want to play for less than what they were making prior to 2021.

Right now NE has a good D, that needs time and more reps to grow to become better, a top notch OL and RBs to work with, has some good looking LBs/Safety hybrids, a great secondary and quite honestly, the best Pats STS units I've ever seen and it might be one of the best in NFL history, short of a good kick off returner.

We had a good draft this year.

And a really good one last year. After this year's, it's possible the youth movement is not only well underway, but a lot better than the anti-Belichick media is telling the public.

Here is how I have it. I like to do these by tiers:

Tier 1 (A Level):

Damian Williams
Jakobi Meyers
Onwenu
Byron Cowart
Winowich
Jake Bailey (superb)

Tier 2 (B Level - Newish production, still getting worked in but have shown signs of good things)

JoeJuan Williams (notice he got some CB work in late vs Chargers)
Uche
Jennings
Dugger
Harry
Olezcewski
Justin Herron

Incomplete:

Terez Hall,Stidham, JJ Taylor, Keene, Asiasi

That's a lot of names.

In the 2021 draft there are 3 really impactful wide receivers: chase, waddle and smith.

we are currently drafting at 16. Chances are all 3 of those are off the board.

If we are dead set in drafting a wide receiver in the first round, I think we could trade back and draft Marshall of LSU in the early 20’s.

Draft the best ILB , edge rusher, receiver or tight end whoever is available when we draft. If we are able to get the 1st or 2nd best person in those position we should draft them. Need playmakers who can contribute immediately. No red-shirting of first rounders.

That's how I have it as well. I think this is an impact "best player" at need positions draft now, since he loaded up on picks last year.

Goodell cheated us again with the Cincy documentary garbage, so they lost their 3rd rder. The good news is, they have 3 compensatory picks coming back, which I am convinced after BB signed Newton and Goodell took calls from owners to cheat us again, that's why it was a 3rd rder. Van Noy and Brady should give us good picks in that area under the formula.

In what quantum reality does one reside where 2019 was a "really good" draft? Opposite Land?
Winowich, Harris, Bailey, Joe Juan Williams (poor guy can't get on the field it's so loaded in the secondary). Meyers, Harry and if Stidham is the guy next year and wins the job?

Do you even watch the NFL? If you get 3 nice players out a draft, that's good. In what kind of a hole do you live where you think other NFL teams have these great yields and we don't? lmao

Are you this duped by the anti-Belichick media still?

Newton literally has singlehandedly lost this team at least 3 games. 3. Maybe 4. It has nothing to do with the younger players chipping in and playing pretty well during a pandemic.

"Playing" does not necessarily equal "contributing."
Sure it does. Each rookie on D for example has shown nice moments this year learning the system without OTAs, mini camp or preseason. Very impressive.

Go back and look at the 2011 draft without OTA or mini camp.

None of the players in that draft even played in 2011......They were redshirted due to the Lockout. Even Matt Light played on more year in front of Solder. Did you whine then? Just curious.

Solder, Vereen and Cannon helped us win a SB vs Seattle and Cannon would help to win a couple more. It's like some of you are asleep and only read the anti-Belichick media's comments, which always turn out to be hilariously mortifying a couple years down the road.

We're obviously going to agree to disagree on that one, then.

You're like the other guy SB1 here who tries to tell everyone they're smarter and better than BB and has a crystal ball as well. No one worth their salt judges a draft in year 1. No one does that.

I think Belichick needs help with the draft. But like an alcoholic, unless you admit you need help, you’re not gonna get help. This team can turn around fast, if they can just have a successful draft on offensive weapons.

They did a good job the last two years, with getting Winovich last year, and Dugger, Uche & Jennings added to the defense. Good, young, talented and hungry defenders, who are the future of this defense.

Now imagine if they could get offensive equivalents on offense, 2 or 3 EXPLOSIVE offensive players could make a major impact as soon as next season. A QB in the 1st round, and then nothing but receivers and maybe a TE from rounds 2 on. Then, we also have a TON of cap space in the offseason. Sign a veteran QB and others to fill holes. A quick turnaround can be possible if the do the smart thing.

Look at Washington, McLaurin & Gibson were not 1st round picks, turned their offense into an explosive offense. Chase Claypool having a great rookie season in Pittsburgh, not a 1st round pick. Just make smart moves on explosive offensive player
I would also like to add defense end/rushing lb to our defense as well. Basically another playmaker. I like what I'm seeing out of some of our young defenders but with all the cap room we have and possibly through the draft, if we can add an impact player up front to go along with Wino, Uche, Guy, Jennings and Dugger, Butler and our secondary, I think our defense will be really good.

we have the worst wr/TEs in the nfl and you want more defense!

Because our offensive evaluation sucks... better to draft defense ( defensive backs not allowed within first 5 rounds ) or offensive lineman . Maybe draft 5 to 6 UDFA receivers with speed and route running capability and choose the best 1 from them. We might have better luck there than drafting....

You’re new so are unfamiliar with the captain. It’s his thing to be negative 24/7 100% of the time. Everyone sucks, worst ever, BB is the devil and could have drafted all pros at all 22 starter spots if he just listened to him. Read it for what it’s worth, chuckle at the crazy, and don’t engage. Sad thing is he is at least entertaining with his stick unlike some others who are just annoying.
