Bench Newton!

Then you should have read it. The point wasn’t comparing Stidham to Brady it was to show that the sample size is too small to make a judgment.
Ok now do this for Ryan Mallett. His first season with the Pats: 1-4 17 yards 1 int. How did his career turn out after that?

I just can’t see it. He is digressing badly and the only time we win is when we win in spite of him and he doesn’t screw it up.
I really cannot imagine him giving us a better chance to win than stidham
Hoyer and about 50 other nfl QBs.
I mean it’s not even arguable that he hurts the team by being out there.
Look at it this way. Anyone else can handoff and throw 15-20 passes mostly safe passes with one read or a screen.
Any ability over and above that helps.
And forget the running ability. Outside of a couple of games he doesn’t even run.
Now I agree that if we ran 10-12 designed runs, and if his first read wasn’t open he took off, he would give us a better chance to win but that’s not happening. He stands in the pocket like he’s never been there before and refuses to run, and gets sacked.
I often wonder if they are trying to coach some bad habits out of him and the indecisiveness is making him look worse than he really is? I hope he sticks around for next year, I really enjoy his style and he seems like such a great teammate and leader. But he definitely shouldn't be handed the job for next year and I really hope they bring in lots of solid competition at the QB position.

Again you add doing this backward. My argument is that a minimal sample size tells you nothing.
You can’t refute that by showing the minimal sample size of someone who did or didn’t work out.
Are you honestly trying to tell me that you can judge the future of a qb based upon his first 4 pass attempts?
Brady was 1/3 for 6 yards. Meaningless.

because if he can’t do it in a limited practice situation, he won’t do it on game day.

every practice snap is a chance to prove yourself. Newton Has set the bar really low and stidham can’t get over it!

ps: not sure if you remember Ken sims. The players had him the nick name for him “game day”. They did this because he did nothing in practice, but told every body he would show up on game day.
needless to say, he did squat in practice and less on game day.
Damn, I had finally forgotten that name. Now you go and bring up bad memories. That guy (to put it nicely) just didn't work out.

I want him gone yesterday.
By style do you mean the way he dresses? It can’t be his style of play.

I cannot think of a player at any position in the bb era that started 10 games and was worse than this dude.
can you?

You’re comparing the start of Brady’s career to Stidham’s. Implying that we might have a Brady on our hands if only Stidham gets a chance.

No we don’t. He had a chance and now it’s time to move on. Far more likely Stid will be another Mallett than a Brady. I think the Pats can do much better than that.

Who says he can’t do it in a limited practice situation?
The point is he isn’t being given an opportunity to compete for the job.
It’s literally impossible to win a job without getting first team reps in practice.
If he was not succeeding in his limited reps in practice how did he move up the depth chart?

Again why wouldn’t you want him given a chance. He is the only possible qb on the roster who could be here next year.

Yes he did. Went from presumed starter in camp to #3. That doesn’t happen if he was good. And the coach shut down any talk of a QB controversy.

It’s over. Time to move on.

Although I do appreciate his outfits, the style of play is what I was referring to. I love his toughness and the way he hits defender when he does decide to run. I am a huge Cam advocate, I don't see as much negative to his game as others and I am pulling for him to regain his MVP level of play next year. Go Pats

Then he went back to #2 after the KC game indicating he improved.

No I am not comparing the start of Brady’s career to Stidhams. Not even close.
I am using Brady as an example that the amount of opportunity Stidham has had is not even close to sufficient to judge a qb.

in no way did I even come close to implying Stidham compares to Brady. In fact I am
doing just the opposite, saying you can’t draw any conclusion from the amount of opportunity he has had.

let me put it another way.
If you take the first 27 passes of every QB who has ever played in the nfl and compared them to his ultimate career there would be no real correlation.

The example was not used to make a statement about Stidham ability.
it was used to refute the belief that “he’s had his opportunity”.
It makes no judgment on what he may do with that opportunity but it is beyond ridiculous to call the plating time and situations it came in sufficient to evaluate an NFL QB.
If it were a sufficient amount most of the vast QBs in nfl history never would have made it to there first 50 passes.

Presumed by who? He was injured.

my apologies! First pick overall and a total train wreck as a player. I think Julius adams beat him up in the locker room one training camp! Luckily we moved on fairly quickly from him.

hopefully Newton had an even shorter stay here.

Now I am praying twice a day for Stidham to start. @sb1 "wouldn't watch much tbh" and then would not repeat the same discussion point 100 times over and over on PatsFans. That would be great Best argument I have heard to start Stidham

I don’t know what’s more amusing. This fascination with a JAG 4th round QB who won’t be starting for this or any NFL team. Or this board going from “Stidham sucks we would have beaten the Chiefs if Cam had started” to “Give Stidham a chance!1!1!”

Don’t worry Etling used to be the future

Now you are talking, I loved Julius Adams.

bishop-Hamilton-adams. What a great defensive line. In 1978 bishop played with a giant club on his hand because of a broken bone and he used that club as a weapon. Great stuff!

Nelson made a million tackle because those three sucked up offensive linemen!

those patriots teams of the mid to late 70’s were a qb away from making Pittsburgh irrelevant!
